I really like your thinking here and I'm torn between 'getting it all done at once' or being able to pass smog tests, not throwing codes, easy replacement. My only question now is either to go cat back or turbo back. The dyno tune is a necessity.

Somewhat of an understatement ?

Thanks for the very kind offer of being able to try yours on for size. If you're in SF, I might take you up on it.

Its nice to hear someone do something helpful and not selfish. Parting with a GTR must bite, but glad to hear that the X is working out well!

I have had a problem with this type of thing my entire life... So far what I have learned is... Do things for you... Screw your friends opinions... If it makes you happy, you don't have to justify anything to them. You have to sleep in the bed you make. Honestly representing something that makes you happy will change your friends opinions, if it's sincere. GL with whatever decision you make. Hope you do it for you

To me the GT-R and Lancer MR Touring both represent similar things. Amazing performance at their resepective price points. Maybe it's because I'm almost 40, but I simply no longer care about badge prestige. I like the fact that the GT-R and Lancer are made by companies that most people with MBs and BMWs wouldn't consider.

Not even close yet, but car went back in friday for AMS intercooler, AMS widemouth downpipe, AMS upper intercooler pipe, fuel injector and fuel pump install and another dyno tune. My Do-luck trunk is coming wednesday so I hope to have it back by friday. I'm thinking about reshooting the whole grill area and chrome in matte black while it's in the shop, but I'm not sure on that one.

I ended up going with Works sway bars with the AST coilovers. The combo is really amazing.

This thread could just be renamed to "watch me do everything in a short period of time", to help future people find what it's really about

How much would it cost for an evoX to outrun, outhandled a GT-R? None, it goes quite a bit faster with a transmission that works., just kidding....

Very nice story and way to help.

You'll need about 450whp to keep up with a GT-R... FP Red will help

I would get a E46 hands down if I were you. That was my first choice but finance troubles led me to a Evo X. The evo x handles better but a M3 is one of the most successful road racers ever. Amazing race derived engine, RWD(like true race cars), luxury..... I never seen a MR touring in person so i cant lean one way too far.

However, If I could have gotten the M, I wouldnt think twice, get the e46.
