Thinking about buying a 2010 Evo X MR *anything I should know?*

I was wondering about if people are having problems with certain things on it or what they do and dont like about them. Read on msn autos their pros and cons and some of the peoples reviews but rather go to a message board to get the real response. I currently have a 03 evo viii that i love and will still be keeping it just wasn't sure about the new one, test drove one today and thought it was very nice. Thanks ahead for all the help

Just budget $700 up front for the Access Port, or about half that for a custom tune to get it to where it needs to be. The Evo X MR is a very nice and capable vehicle, though it does need a reflash.

Get the wheels properly aligned and rotate the tires often, and you'll be fine.

Yes. If you stick with Stage I, you get better power and response, better mileage, and the option of setting it back to stock when it goes to the dealer so they don't hassle you over the warranty.

It will feel a bit bulkier than your VIII, but it more than makes up for it with the S-AWC and the amenities!
There are endless discussions on the SST...so I won't even go there.
Other than that, you'll find that it can be a great daily driver with a lot of potential for improving performance.

Of course, the performance it good out of the box, but as others have mentioned, a tune will bring out the beast inside!

Good luck on the purchase!

See that's what i'm worried about, is if the MR is worth it or just to get the GSR... Rather have an auto so my fiance can drive it too if she needs too, and dont really wanna teach her how to drive a stick on my 03 or a brand new one.. but if they are having problems with the SST that i dont wanna deal with i'm wondering if the GSR would be worth it lol

If you don't plan on going past stage 1 (which you should do, you'll be very happy you did) the the SST won't be a problem unless you do frequent launches...

The SST gives out on people that are launching the MRs or going for big power...

I don't think the current AccessPort supports 2010 X? Correct me if I am wrong...

If you like paddle shifting go with the MR...otherwise go with the GSR. I looked at both along time and couldn't get over the fact that the X decided to make the MR's paddle shifters for a car like this. The wheels are great on the MR with BBS but..just my .02

Oh sorry - don't get me wrong. There aren't really "problems" per se with the SST, just a million opinions of what people think of driving it (and not having to shift).

If you want it for the sake of your fiancee and like the idea of having an incredibly sophisticated transmission which can shift in milliseconds, then it will be perfect for you.

(Note: I have an MR/SST)

The MR is as much as an Evo as the GSR, and the SST is just as good as reviews say about it. It has limitations (in stock form), but if you are looking for a clutchpedal-less DD w/ Evo-capabilities, it is the perfect car. I say go for the MR if you want the lady to drive it... I regret buying the GSR cuz my wife has no skill in using a manual tranny (oh well) and traffic can be a b*tch.

Also, I'd go with a dyno/custom tune, costs a lot less than an AP and you get much more bang!!

Don't listen to other opinions on the SST. Make your own mind up. Once I drove the MR in a spirited form, there was no way I was going to get the GSR. I never use automatic (unless the wife is driving), and am always in control of the tranny.

Get the X MR, you won't regret it. As far as the Cobb vs Custom. You can get a custom tune, and a cable for much cheaper than a cobb. And you'll have the ability to change it back to stock on your own (very easy). Not only that but you'll have infinite abilities adjusting the tune. Don't tie your hands behind your back with the Cobb.

Also the "no big power" on the MR is going out the window. With the upgraded clutches, the SST TCU mods, and coolers. You will be able to hit some huge numbers in the SST. The biggest breakthrough is the SST TCU mods that are just now coming out. No one knows the limits yet.

Thank you guys very much for all your help, I have my evo 8 if i wanna go race, that's fast enough for now 489 to the wheels on race gas and 11.303 @ 127 so far for that... so this will be just a daily driver have a lot of fun with it and prob not race it as I wont be doing a lot to it... Hopefully within a week or 2 here i'll have one, just gotta travel 650 miles to get it since the dealer around me wont budge their price for the same exact car lol
