Question Hydraulic Jack for the X

I have a 4 ton hydraulic (craftsman) jack from sears that I have been using since 05 and finally this morning gave me first issue.. It failed to lift at all, gave it oil and checked the seals (orings) nothing has worked... Anyone has any good suggestions which brand to get? I pref.. low profile since my X is lowered and more importantly reliable... thanks in advance

craftman has a lifetime warrenty on their tools. I would call sears or craftman and find out if the jack has the same warrenty. If so, they will fix the old or give you a new.

The Tire Rack Jack looks like a really good jack too. I might have to get one instead of the craftman.

Craftsman jacks only have a 1 year warranty sadly.

Youll be better off just buying a new unit. Jacks can be a ***** to repair, especially if you haven't done it before. ( i work at a hydraulic repair shop).

+1 on the tire rack jack......loooks like a solid piece.

I bought a jack very similar to the tire rack at Northern Tool. The nice thing about it is that they do an add-on replacement warranty. None of the reasonable priced aluminum jacks that I looked at were serviceable anyway.

Harbor freight makes a comparable all aluminum racing jack for only $80:

Plenty of us Evo 8-9 guys use this jack...I am a private mechanic and work on at least 10-15 cars a month and I've been using mine now non stop for 3 years, with no failure. It might buckle under the enormous weight of a 10 though...hehe just kidding! I use this on my lowered Evo 8 (tein flex coilovers, so low it scrapes on everything) and it has no problems with clearances. And yes its made in China!

I have the harbor freight jack as well. Open a DSport, Super Street, or import tuner and look for the coupon. It is regularly $89, but with the coupon, you pay $59. Works like a champ. I know it is in the new January Super Street, Page 69.

HF has been advertising in MotorTrend ..coupon was in the latest issue there as well.

Tirerack one weighs 50 lbs and lifts to 19" high
HF bamboo special weighs 24 lbs and lifts to 14" or so
