65 YR old dood driving an X MR... WTH?!
I live in South OC...any time you want to meet at Willows with your pink slip, let me know....
3 digits is old And i can not say I know anyone that still races at that age. I have meet plenty of guys that are over 70 still involved in things like scca. It is wierd hearing people in 20s and 30s as old tho.
/\
Well it wasn't meant to be an insult... so don't take it that way. It just threw me off and to be honest I hope I am doing the same thing when I am 65. Back when I did SCCA in Hawaii I used to get spanked all the time by the older guys in their datsun's..
If you're an older guy I find that a pretty childish comment regarding pink slips.. I feel like I am in Fast and the Furious or something.

No joke, I was at boston market having lunch once when I saw this really old couple get into a IS-F. They could barely walk, he had a cane and she had a walker. He had to help her into the car and buckle her up. Then he really slowly inched his way to the other side, put his cane in the rear seat and really slowly lowered his way into his car. The last I saw of him was him gently pulling out of the spot but holding 1st for a really really long time cause I could hear the growl of the car when he was like 4-5 blocks down the street.
I thought to myself, when I get that old, I wanna be just like that.

Mean old fart here with an X.
And my wife and kids love my car. Dont care if they dont. Lifes too short.
As for me....its got nothing to do with midlife. I grew up in an area where high performance cars were the norm. Pony cars were a part of my childhood, and V8 Vegas and a Lotus Ford Cortina a part of my youth.
Rich guys across the tracks had parents with porsches etc and when lucky I was able to drive those too. That place was crawling with BMWs. Never did autocross or track days but spent my younger days running the canyons in CA in those types of cars and bikes too (RD400-KZ1000R).
Going to a turbo AWD car was a natural progression from my perspective. I looked at M3s but kept wanting to put an LS1 in one so knew in my heart that wasnt the way to go.
I first saw an Evo in a Jackie Chan movie and was blown away.
Like all things manmade and therefore imperfect, the X does have a few shortcomings. But as a car its more than 98% of all drivers in the world can truly push to its limits and beyond.
I love it-

Was driving around and saw an older (60+) fellow driving a Supra. I thought it was his son's car or something. Then I saw him the next day. Then the next. I guess there's an older fellow that owns a Supra around here >.>
