How-To: Launch a GSR

What is your experience in launching your stock GSR? What rpms are optimal for aggressive and minimal wheelspin?

why not????

anyways back to the topic, the best way to launch an awd is to slip your clutch. DON NOT DUMP YOUR CLUTCH or your t-case will be in pieces. Slip your clutch enough so the cars start moving, and once you feel the car has moved a bit then let the clutch go. Its a matter of milliseconds but enough practice and some clutch burning will teach you the right way. Is it healthy for your car? NO Is it fun when you drag race? YES

Because when clutch goes boom hes going to be like why did that happen ? the stock clutch is not the most solid piece of engineering on the evo x .you are better off not launching untill your ready to replace the oem clutch and pressure plate .

But, before you start practicing, stop by your bank and open a savings account and name it 'Clutch Fund'. Every time you indulge in clutch slipping, deposit $100. After about 10 times, you will need it.

just to share my experience with an evo8

it had 362whp did more then 50 launches and road race it a lot i reved it up to 7000rpms and i just let go of the clutch without slipping it just letting it go and it worked great the clutch lasted 20,000 miles just make sure you get a little bit of wheelspin what i did also was that i put 35psi of air in my tires to get wheelspin and nothing broked ever. this was stock clutch

You use launch mode. You can make a sandwich and paint a picture while the car launches itself.

I think there is a RPM launch limit of 5k on the Evo X.

It's adjustable via EcuFlash in the table StationaryRevLimit

Haha notice that all the 'real world experience' came from people running the strips NOT in an X...

The stock clutch has been proven time and time again that the clutch does not stand up to abuse...

Check a lot of people's Xs that have started modding and the clutch is one of the first things they'll replace...

Right now I'm trying to figure out which one will work best for me,

But launching it, use the two-step (1st-gear rev-limit) and then slip the clutch out...

Should serve you well, but as it's been said be ready to have the clutch go on you if you do it a lot...
