IS the stock X exhaust manifold cast iron like the VIII's were? If so has anyone tried to port them out? Just curious.

Yes it is cast iron and here you go for porting everything from the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, turbo and throttle body

The stock manifold design is actually pretty poor and causes cylinders to fire back into each other and does not take full advantage of the twin scroll turbo. There is a guy who lives by me who approached me at the race track last year and was explaining to me his findings on how bad the OEM manifold was designed and is actually designing a new manifold that will help fix this. I believe HB speed and Speed Circuit are doing the testing on it. If you have heard of HP freaks (known for big power M3’s) he makes all their manifolds.
