I'd go with this solution too instead of letting him try to find one for you

A mitsu tech "informed" me that my oil was black and should be changed when I brought my RA in for the front impact sensor recall. I laughed in his face and said to not worry about it, I've got it under control. I had just changed the oil and filter myself the prior week.

Did your mechanic also suggest adjusting your Johnson Rods?

Seriously...As everyone has stated, this is normal. The largest contributor to the color is older oil hiding in and around the hundreds of crevaces within the motor.

I wonder how much stays in there when you drain it all?

The only time the oil dipstick is hard to read due to the oil being too clean is when I first check pressure and leaks. After that within a few hundred miles it slowly fades to black and is perfectly normal. If the mechanic doesn't understand this look elsewhere.

Engine oil usually don't turn black that quick. Itt usually takes atleast 3000 miles. If your oil gets black fast, that means the engine oil is breaking down so I think withing using higher temperature rating and that should work better.

Just my 0.2 cents.

The issue here is possible oil dilution and has been discussed at length here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...l-problem.html
If U take the time to read the posts therein U will see the importance of changing oil at 3K intervals as well as the use of a good synthetic oil; dilution by fuel addition rather than color is what is of concern.

Later, Ken

Edit: Thanks EVOM for finally fixing our search engine..all our members should be so aware to reduce the number of posts and enhance the queries and responses!
