Yea your mechanic is stupid. It's normal. Plus any turbo'd car makes the oil dirty quickly because of the things mentioned above.

The main reason I use the dealer for oil changes is because it shows the history in their system. So should I ever have a warranty related issue they understand that pure neglect is not one of my shortcoming. However, I don't put a lot of faith into my way of thinking, but I just figured it can't hurt.

I do double check the work they do from time to time, but there's a local dealer I go to, and their "Evo tech" is really good.
