We've been working pretty hard on the Facebook page and getting our Marketing brochure updated so very little work has been done to the car. We did find this little gem. Its a photo of the One Lap VR4 climbing the esses at Watkins Glen with a real Archer Racing Talon trailing behind.

Keep us updated for sure. We are hoping to enter 2011 event with our new Evo X. No way we would be ready this year for it. So we will be sure to cheer you on this year.

What made you go with BC coilovers? will you be using those for the event?

Cheers

Logan was having a good deal on his shop car coilovers and the ER series had the remote reservoirs and newer 10k/10k spring setup. I ordered the 12k rear springs and that is the only thing slowing down the install at this time, I may just install them as is and test how it is so I can feel the change to 12k to verify it's a good one. We'll definitely be using them for the event and putting them through the ringer so we'll see first hand how they hold up. Pretty much this is a perfect torture test type of setup where if anything is a weak link you will find out very quickly how reliable your car is.

That would be great to see more people along the way cheer us on in person! Pretty much as long as I'm not busting knuckles under the car or driving I'll talk ECU's or anything car related if someone stops by. I think last year the guys in the VR4 had the biggest fan club at each location, most of the other racers were like "who the heck are these guys?", it was quite the sight.

The Rochester DSM One Lap team is currently looking for additional sponsors to help us offset the cost of this trip. With a worldwide audience, the One Lap of America, offers a unique opportunity to get your company name or your brand spread across America. The race itself gains a lot of attention, both online and in media print. There are hundreds of printed media (Magazines, Newspapers, etc) who have run articles on One Lap of America in the past and continue to publish this historic race. This year Motor Trend is the premier magazine providing coverage for the event. Our experience with the event last year showed that we can generate and maintain a strong media presence for our sponsors and we look forward to the opportunity to work on creative marketing options to promote your brand.

For more information on how you can become a sponsor of the team, contact information, or to download our new sponsor brochure visit our web page.

Thank you for all your support,

RochesterDSM One Lap team.

There are some action shots of the VR4 in the 2009 Promo Video from Motor Trend:

I've added some estimated travel times and distances between each event which shows how even leaving a track by 4 pm doesn't necessarily mean you will get to a hotel by midnight.

Talking Darkside Engineering Sponsorship

Darkside Engineering is now an official sponsor of the Evo X for this years 2010 One Lap of America event!

Many thanks to Logan for working with us for this years event, I'm sure the car will react well to the suspension improvements. You can read all the details for what is in store for the suspension at our main site!

TunersNation.com was kind enough to send us a set of there rear sub-frame and mustache brace bushings. If you crawl under your 1G AWD or Galant VR-4 it becomes pretty obvious how important these bushings are. No matter what shocks, springs, control arms..etc you use they all rely on the sub-frame/mustache bushings. If those are worn out the whole rear suspension can shift under hard cornering or a hard launch and all the work we did to weld the trailing arms, set the toe, and setting the camber go out the window. Looking at the mustache brace and how flimsy it is makes me wonder how it maintains the pinion angle under hard launches?

The job is pretty strait forward and if you can put a clutch in you can do this job too. I've found in the past the best way to deal with bushings is to just burn them out and deal with the mess.

Although everything isn't buttoned up and back in the car the bushings are in and sometime in April we should be able to get some testing done to see the results.

For more information and photos check out the website.

Last summer Andre at Pina Motorsports introduced his chromoly rear upper control arms for the 1G AWD and VR-4 platforms. They feature fully tig welded ends, heim joints, and a grease able ball joint end. The fine members of the GalantVR4.org took up a collection and purchased a set for the RochesterDSM One Lap team.

Installing them is simple. Just unbolt the ball joint and give the give the spindle where the joint passes through a couple of good whacks with a hammer to pop them out. Then just unbolt the adjusters and the olds ones are out. I made sure to measure the old arms before I took them out of the car so I when I installed the new ones I would at least be in the ballpark with my alignment.

The RochesterDSM One Lap of America team is proud to announce that ECM Tuning has stepped up to the plate once again by becoming an official sponsor for the Galant VR-4 Team. While we wouldn’t have any other system in the car to keep it running, we are proud to be able to wear the badge of ECM Tuning on the side of the car to represent the best system available for making these cars go fast.

For more information you can check out our website here Link

The Rochester DSM One Lap Team is proud to announce that we have a new sponsor for our 2010 trip. Three-Speed.com has signed up to be an official sponsor this year and will be displayed proudly on the One Lap Evo X.

ThreeSpeed started with roots deep in the Galant VR-4 community as Harry Blanchard built up one of the most pristine and iconic Galant VR-4 builds that the community had ever seen. The car was “number 3", representing the 3rd of only a 1000 that was sold in 1992. When it came time to put a scatter shield into that car, the after-market industry at the time fell short in producing a quality scatter shield that would actually hold up to the standards the car had come to represent. With the creation of that scatter shield, so started ThreeSpeed, a design and specialty manufacturing company dedicated to producing nothing but the highest quality products on the market for over a decade.

You can check out the full line of ThreeSpeed products here click

and read more about there sponsorship on our website here click

That's great news Tim! I would imagine that I should start looking into a scattershield for my Evo X anyways, especially if I intend to rev it to 8000+ and launch it at the drag strip.
