My EVO-X MR ate my Tires!!
My EVO-X MR ate my Tires!!
Hi everyone,
I have a small problem. My 08 MR ate the tires ( inner most tread blocks) on all 4 tires in like 6,000 miles. I know this is a camber issue, but I have the factory installed Eibach springs and bilstein Struts. It seems as if the Dealer did not align the car upon delivery . I believe the Yokhamas have a tread wear of 180, but I should get at least 10,000 miles out of them. I rotate the tires every 3500 miles, So I got one rotation in. I'm trying to figure out if I should turn a warranty claim.
My Question is Anyone else having this problem? Also how many miles are you avg out of the Yoko tires?
Thanks in advance for any help!

MANY people have had this problem. I doubt that the dealers even align the cars. I lost the outside edge of my tires...burned them up with less than 2k miles on the car by spending a couple hours at the track.
You'll find other lengthy threads on this topic.

at 6k miles you're not likely to get MMNA to cover these under warranty. When you do replace your tires, get a good alignment and rotate your tires a little more frequently. My first set of Advans lasted about 11k miles, while my second - on a dealer alignment - lasted only about 6.5k.

alignments are super aggressive (or junk depending on how you look at it) from the factory. Chances are even if the dealership you bought it from did indeed check the alignment, it would probably show up "within limits" set by the factory. You can try to claim warranty, but they will more than likely deny you. I tried myself and got denied. I have about 4500 miles on my car and mine are already wearing uneven. Your best bet may be to get it properly aligned by Mike @ Baierl
in Wexford and save up for some new tires. You should stop into the Pittsburgh Thread. There are quite a few of us around Greensburg
