I've really been considering the K&N Typhoon, uses the stock air inlet, comes with a heat shield, an upper intercooler pipe and can be had for around $330.

I don't think many people here run it; I personally haven't found very many opinions of it on this forum.

As far as drop-ins go, I would probably go with the WORKS filter, depends on how much money you have to play with.

^^^your welcome

One thing I will tell you is dont listen to the guys who just throw a company name out there with no results to back up their decision. I am looking into getting the WORKS drop in filter, its cheap and have heard it makes good gains. With the money you save you can get an UICP, research just like you are doing and Im sure you will make the right choice.

If the guys that just post a name would provide graphs it would be much easier to decide.

How do these drop ins compare to AMS Short Ram Intake or the ams cold air..

Using the car as a DD, I think a panel or short ram would be better if you live in florida/northeast.. we get a good amount of rain sometimes, don't want a surprise.
