Installed D1 Spec Throttle Controller ***Running ECO Mode Tests****

Hey Everyone,

Just installed my first mod yesterday on the X. I picked up a throttle controller from Hyrbrid R! After owning my X MR for 2 weeks time now, I can only think of 1 negative aspect on the car. That is the gas mileage. I'm still breaking in the car right now, so since I can't rip it around, I decided to test what the best mileage I can get is.

As many of you probably already know, the throttle controllers play around with the voltage signals in the throttle and adjust it accordingly. I didn't bother picking up the Blitz Throttle Controller since the price is outrageous. Instead, I got the D1 Spec, which practically works exactly the same.

Installation is pretty straight forward since it is all plug and play.

I think I'll be running a few series of tests in the ECO mode for now to see what the best mileage I can do is on a full tank.

Currently in normal mode, I have done max 380 km from half city and half highway driving on a full tank. I live up in Canada, and with gas prices up on the rise, I'm deciding to run a few tests to see which level in ECO mod saves the most gas.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Just decided to shoot a photo where I mounted the D1 Spec too.

Cheers!

If you can control your right foot you could get the same results if all that device does is intercept and adjust TPS inputs. You can also adjust the throttle maps in EcuFlash to just about anything you want to do the same thing.

Thats what I did when I first got the car, but its so tedious doing it over and over again just to get better mileage. A few clicks with the throttle controller and you basically get the same result.

Optiblue - Ernest actually told me about the meet, I would be down to come, but I've got some family plans to attend to. Will you be going to the RS meet?

truth. right foot control plus a good tune to take out some of the stock richness will do more than this thing ever could. (and probably cheaper. how much did this cost?)

I have the blitz and LOVE it. It feels like a whole different car and definitely gives "the feel" of more power. If your cruising around 45mph with it on and then shut it off, it feels like you lost your turbo! HaHa! No really, i love it and would highly recommend it. I dont use it as much as i should (bad mpg in SP2) but when i am in the mood to drive spirited, i always click it on. You can say just give it more gas, but its not the same. I am sure the D1 is the same

Hey everyone, just an updated with the ECO mode testing. I ran about 400 - 410 km on a full tank since installing the D1 spec throttle controller. This was tested based on ECO3 in half city half highway conditions.

I'm going to play around some ECO2 and ECO4 and see if I can beat my current mileage.

Sounds perfectly normal to me as I can't approach those numbers. These cars have the fuel economy of a performance V8 engine and the gas tank of an economy car. It's a crappy combination but I hope people aren't buying these cars to be green.

yay, another "normal evo!" I can't believe that people were getting 300-350 before their gas lights came on stock. I don't know how hard they drive, but the most my car has ever seen was 330km's and I had 1.5L left in the tank! I might somewhat drive my car harder, but doesn't everyone?

That mod is essentially a gimmick. I've had better gas mileage than that by just setting the cruise control. My max is about 310 miles (~400km) before filling up. That was about 13 gallons of fuel.

I'm seeing about 330 km average before my light comes on. I don't usually bag on my car that much but every once in a while I'm heavy on the throttle. I found when I first got my car it depended on the type of gas i used. When I used Husky's 94 octane gas I got less mileage than when I used 91 octane gas from Shell. The max I've gotten from the 91 octane gas was close to 400 km.

Part of my issue is that I run Husky 94 almost exclusively which has a lower BTU due to the ethanol blend compared to Shell & ESSO. I do recall filling up on ESSO 91 and noticing a little better economy but I'll stick with crappy Husky 94 until one of the other brands steps up with a higher octane gasoline.

Using chevron 94. Weird. Maybe I should switch to octane 92 or something.
