Thinking of possibly switching my IX for a X
My commute is going to be getting longer, and much of it will be stop and go traffic, or just highway cruising. Thinking about the new MR Touring. I like having a semi rare car, and not that the X isn't, my IX is just a bit more special IMO, but I'm about ready to trade that for the convenience of a paddle and cruise control. Thoughts?
cant really comment on the MR, since I own a GSR, but from what I have read, it does get better gas milage compared to a GSR. I dont know how it compares to your IX tho. I would definately look into a car that will net you better gas milage depending on how big of an increase. as far as start/stop, ya I think having a non true stick will make that much easier, but TBH i dont think Ill ever give up stick, no matter what, even if I am the last person driving one
I know I got hit w/ MPG shock switching from my cobalt SS to my evo. I used to average 25+ w/ my cobalt driving like an *******, now I drive pretty normal and am lucky to hit 20.

love the X w/cc love everything about the X. No lie though I miss the simplicity of the VIII, that and as of now with the mods im doing im scared of breaking the engine. Too many ring land, or rod failure stories for me. SO I will build it quicker then I would like to.
The NAV, cruise and other features of the X do make it a decent commuter car. I'd say get a Cobb AP and leave it otherwise stock. That'll improve the gas mileage and is easy to remove. A daily driver with a warranty sounds rather nice to me right now.

If you're going to be commuting and this is going to be a DD car, I say go for it! The X MR is a whole new breed of car that deserves respect.
With that being said, it looks like I'll be going back to a CT4A here shortly. I'm going to give my X MR to my wife as a graduation present, and get a GG IX GSR or MR (Don't really want the getrag 6 speed manual). The reason I'm doing this is because I want to have a very powerful time attack car. I'd feel much better wrecking a 20k IX GSR than a 38k (what i paid OTD) X MR.
If you're going to mod the hell out of it, I wouldn't get a MR for a while. The transmission is strong supposedly but the programming hasn't got there yet.

A stock MR is surprisingly quiet and makes for a nice cruiser on decent pavement. The ultra-firm chassis and slightly softer than GSR suspension still don't handle rough pavement like a Camry or Accord but it's probably one of the better performance/daily driver compromises available for the price.
Put it this way...when you're driving to and from work, you're going to wish you had the X.
On the weekends when you can have some fun, you're going to wish you had the IX.
Your choice.

I think it's probably a better DD. My butt is kinda big, so in a super long commute, my *** hurts because of the recaros, but I think it's because I haven't broken in the seats yet. I have a GSR, but Automatic cars are super easy on commutes. Plus you get creature comforts.
