Replica Do-Luck Trunk Already being sold on Socal...
It's just like 95% of people who pirate software. They wouldn't buy the software in the first place. Just because they pirated it doesn't automatically mean they would have purchased it. (I hate how companies don't factor that in when they claim they lost billions in software pirating).
Honestly, I wouldn't ever purchase a Do-Luck part because the price is so insane. I like JDM stuff, but there is always a cost
erformance ratio. And when their part is 10:1 vs 2:1, i'm gonna skip it. I like what webman said. Release two parts (expensive and cheap) and cut out the copiers from the beginning.
@ Jaydub - personally, I wouldn't pay 1/30th of the price of my car for a piece that adds no functionality, but that's me. I find it funny when people refer to our "$30k car" like it is some magical beast. $30k is not that much for a car and we aren't that far removed from a $20k civic, so let's not put the base price on too much of a pedestal.
*edit - besides, we let
put this SHlT paint on our "$30k car!"

The person that is working with the fabrication company on making the replica trunk, also owns a real Do-Luck trunk. The reason why she ventured out in looking for a replica is b/c her REAL Do-Luck trunk's clear coat on the edges was peeling. She was pissed b/c she spent alot of money on a REAL trunk and it's already doing that. Seeing that the trunk was still fairly new, she felt she had just wasted alot of money on it.
Alot of ppl can say you shouldn't buy fakes but if the replica is as good or pretty close to the real deal and it's affordable for the ones that want that look? Of course people will buy it.
I know I would be pissed too if I've spent a ton of money on a trunk and finds out it's peeling. Face it, all CF parts eventually fail in the long run.

as much money as people spend on these trunks there should be no problems with the trunk. clear coat or other wise at least not for a long time. i would be pissed off too. not sure if i would go make a replica or anything like that.
Slight improper fitment (which can usually be fixed if you know what you're doing upon install), and the CF weave may be skewed a little in some places.
The person in the socal thread claimed the fitment was good but the camera angle made it look off. Honestly, the gap in the pictures looked pretty good so I would tend to believe them on the angle making the lights look off.
The body lines don't even line up, so there is no way the lights would line up.
I'm not against replicas, I'm against bad quality. It's bad enough 99% of aftermarket body parts never fit like OEM. I'd rather stick with the OEM trunk rather than a trunk where the body lines don't match and the lights are off.
