Just bought used evo x

i got the car on Thursday and had no issues til Friday afternoon, once i let my cousins husband show me how to launch in my evo(he owns one also), so once he launched, the rpm started bouncing from 500 to 1k, and sometimes even lower than 500, about 8hrs later i was driving and the "service engine soon" light came on and i brought it to the dealership first thing Saturday morning, and the tech input my vin into his system and he told me that this car hasn't been to the dealership for any of the recalls. Now my question is, did the light come on because of one of the recall issues?

The SES light probably didn't come on because of the recall issues. So does the rpm needle wander when idling? Is the dealer reflashing the car or taking care of any of recall issues?

Yes is wanders while idling, and the dealership told me they were going to take car of all the recall issues since the car was never brought in for any of them

I highly doubt the test pipe would cause the odd idle. It will throw a code if there is no o2 sim or sprkplug anti fouler installed.

I think its the hip-hop, the EVO prefers more like Bach for good idling. =D
I'd try to go one piece back to stock at a time.
+1 on the MAF sensor. (Note that this is very little information and we're all in a strong guess mode right now.)
