Sideskirt Question
Can anyone confirm if the sideskirts that now come standard on 2010 Evos are the exact same as the sideskirts from the 2008 aero package? Or are they a different design.
Thanks in advance,

Great info .MM, I didn't know that.
So that would mean that the aero kit skirts would be more efficient at minimizing the rock chipping issue?
I have one that got damaged (08 GSR standard skirt), so I'm replacing with the flared skirts. I am not putting on the front and rear aero pieces, just the sides. Which do you think I should go with?

well...mitsu changed the side skirts on the 2010 IMO because of the rock chip issue. I actually opted for the aero kit mainly because of the rock chip issue to be honest.
I like the looks of the aero kit...but when i researched and saw that the larger sideskirts were helping to reduce the chips on the rear quarters...i was sold.
I have 4k miles on my X...and i have had wider, lower offset wheels with sticky tires for 3500 of those miles and i have ZERO rock chips on my cars side or rear quarters.
I have 1 small rock chip on my hood and some scratches on my drivers side aero side skirt because people are retarded and always rub or hit it when getting into my car to do work or drive it...but rock chip wise it seems to really help.
My only gripe with the aero sides are that you have to be careful with them. If i could reverse time...i would of clear bra'd the entire tops and upper section of the sides of the side skirts to prevent scratches from idiots.
You also cant step on them and they stick out pretty far and it makes jacking the car up with most jacks difficult. The jack points are a couple inches higher under the car than the side skirts are.
hope that helps

Great review! I'm sold, and have just ordered the kit. The clear bra idea is a good one, and I'll definitely consider it. And I almost feel like adding a "Not a Step" sticker on them" since idiots are likely to do the same to mine as they've done to yours...
Glad this solves the rock chip issue, my rear doors and quarters look sandblasted!

yeah, I had got my sideskirts clearbra'd the second day I had my car and I haven't seen any scratches to this day...I had it done back in April 2008.

I think you may have misunderstood. After reading .MM's comment, I have ordered the 2008 aero sideskirts, not the 2010 sideskirts. And you are right the 2008 aero skirts are cheaper per unit and come pre-painted whereas the 2010 skirts are slightly more expensive and do not come pre-painted.
