How is the Evo X ride in comparison to Evo VIII or IX?
I don't think you're going to see enough of a noticeable difference between the two, to justify buying an X over a IX to "upgrade" the ride quality.
I do think the IX feels lighter and slightly more nimble than the X though.

I have to say though i came from a IX RS.
And i forgot a long time ago how was my VIII SSL ride really, was. It was over 5 years ago.
i actually was deciding between the evo 9 or the evo x and i fell in love with the evo x when i was test driving it because of how much smoother it was compared to the evo 9. also it has options the evo 9 wont have like the keyless entry and the navi that comes with the car. i bought the mr for more of a dd if i were not to dd i would most deff get the evo 9.
I would suggest that the Evo X MR is slightly over damped and under sprung. Moving away from the stock Advan to a Pilot Sport PS2 transforms the ride into a much more enjoyable DD. The PS2 isn't quite as crisp but its an excellent tire.
The X has a stiffer chassis and probably rides marginally better, but I think they honestly feel very different in terms of driving dynamics. I would definitely go test drive one before you buy. I did and was left very underwhelmed. To be fair, I've never driven a modified one, so it wasn't a fair comparison. I just can't get passed the weight gain - very insecure about my car's weight

to me i felt a big difference from test driving both of them. thats why i went with the evo x mr. i also came from a bmw 6 series and to be honest im not disappointed in it it drives very well and i feel like its smooth enough for me to drive as a dd.
The ride in the X is negligibly better then the 8/9....That really depends on what your coming from. The first X I drove had Zeals and RT-615's on it so that was of course way worse then a stock 8/9/10.
Recently on a few test drives I drove my 8 (now on stock suspension/wheels and tires) to the dealership, hopped in a X and found that the X rides very similar. There was not a huge difference in bounciness or harshness.
One thing is for sure I really really prefer the the viability and seating position in the 8/9. In the 8 and 9 you feel very upright, visibility is good and you feel like you are in complete control of the car. The X on the other hand feels like it has way more blind spots and like you are sunken in to the car like a 300Z.

I'm here in Toledo, so the roads are much the same. My X rides much nicer than the VIII did. You can actually carry on a conversation WITHOUT grunting in the X.
