Thumbs up Gas Mileage e85 only

Alright I know there are a bazillon gas mileage threads on here, but I haven't seen hardly any e85 mpgs. I am thinking about running cause it's readily available, and more power. Please Post
1.MPG (City,Highway,Combined)
2.Brief mod list/boost level
3.Please calculate mpg with a calculator(or if your a genius do it in your head).
Please dont post if you are getting your numbers from the dash gauge.

P.S. Not trying to be demanding just really curious to see. Thanks in advance I know I cant be the only one.

With my old mods of E85, Test pipe, Cat back, and Harman intake the best I ever got all freeway was 15.2 mpg. My average city and highway was 13 mpg. All stock the best I got on 91 was 21 mpg. My first tank of 91 on my current set up netted me 18.3 mpg but this was with very spirited driving. Have not had a chance to run a all highway tank to compare with my big turbo vs stock or E85. In my mind getting the E85 cheaper makes the milage a wash. And when you compare the price of race fuel that would be needed to equal the benifits of E85 makes it a no brainer if the E85 is readily available.

All my numbers were hand calculated. The dash is worthless. And bigger injectors throw that off anyway.

i haven't sat down to calculate it but subjectively it isn't that much worse than pump gas. in my experience, when driving to work on pump gas i'd burn enough for the fuel gauge to go from full to one notch down. with e85 on my commute (50 miles one way) it is still just one notch down from full but will drop another notch by the time i get out onto the highway to head home (if that makes sense).

this post doesn't comply with all your demands but what you should take from this is that mileage isn't as bad as what you read on the internet (wait! this is the internet). the only area where you need to place concern is if you plan longer trips like 100 miles out and then back.

WOT? that's a different story. the gauge drops a lot quicker than anything i've seen with e85 at WOT.

15.4 average for highway driving. The turbo doesn't seem to matter if you stay out of boost (I upgraded to a BBX and recorded the same).

I have got a max of 18.5 in the highway and hit 18 a couple of times. In town seems to be around 16, which oddly is what I got with 91 octane in town. lol

Mods in sig.

15-16mpg is about what I run driving like a civilized person (mods/boost level shouldn't matter NEARLY as much as driving style).

I'm pretty sure that, with a bit more optimization, I can get that into the 17-18mpg range. Also, I believe I'm currently getting less than an 85% blend where I am until the end of this month/beginning of next month.

Never been much of mpg kind of person. More important to me is how far I can go on a tank before I have to go through the hassle of filling up. I get ~ 150 - 180 miles on a tank with E85 and ~ 240 - 260 miles on 93. I don't see how boost figures into this. More importantly is AFR and HP. My car is tuned for 11.5 AFR and makes 360 AWP.

I switched over at the beginning of march, and have some pretty good data built up including comparison to my fuel economy on 93 octane before making the switch.

My running average fuel economy on E-85 over the last 2765.3 miles is 17.648 mpg at a cost of $13.96 per 100 miles traveled. Worst fill up was after a bunch of WOT driving for tuning at 15.2 mpg and best on a long highway trip was 21.8 mpg.

My running average fuel economy on 93 octane gasoline over the previous 6712.8 miles was 21.23 mpg at a cost of $13.32 per 100 miles traveled. Worst fill up was after a bunch of WOT driving for tuning at 18.5 mpg and best on a long highway trip was 25.0 mpg.

This is the running average, along with worst and best for both fuels in my car with the mods listed in my signature. I do a mix of city and highway driving along with trips to the drag strip (19 passes so far on the car) and some aggressive driving on the street when accelerating.

Later,

Keith

Thanks guys its about what i figured mileage/price is pretty much a wash that being said in my opinion its worth it for the power gains not to mention some of the aftermarket turbos really like it and much better for high boost apps. I cant wait for my x to be corn fed lol.
P.S. I just wanted to know the boost level cause someone running stock turbo with 20 something boost level will prob get better mileage than someone with a red running 30+( but i could be wrong)

Definitely worth it.

(But our cars need a bigger gas tank, even on regular gas it's too small)

Sorry, have to post this. I only get 16-18 on regular 93 octane.

There are calculators on some of the e85 websites where you put in the current cost of 93 and 85 and it will tell you which one is the better choice.

Also, from the little research I have done, certain states charge vastly different amounts for E85. So some states it is a much easier choice then others. E85 here is around .25 cents cheaper and based on the calculator 93 is the better choice.

But that doesn't take into accounts any of the free power.
