I'm sure this has been asked before, but I need to know what special hardware is need to install a 5 point or 6 point safety harness for an Evo X

I tried searching on the how to, but got no results.

Any help and pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks

I assume that this car has a full cage and you'll be hauling it to the track on a trailer? If you were that serious then I should think you'd already know the answer to your questions or be able to ask a fellow racer.

If this isn't that serious of a car then forget about 5 or 6 points and look into the Scrothe Rallye 4's.

I have they Scrothe's in my car and am happy with the setup. The pics on their site are pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions then shoot me a PM.

So the eye bolts 7/16 thread size and and 38 mm and 22 mm lengths fit the in the seat mounting female holes.

I was just getting ready to go down to the local bolt supply and get the stock bolts measured.

Again, thanks for the help.

Right now, I don't trailer the car to the track, I take out the back seat to haul the tires and use the trunk for jack, jack stands, tools etc.

I have not had the car on the track with the mods I made. We will see how it runs next month at Sebring track weekend.

I'd be a little worried using a real 5- or 6-point harness with the stock seats. They're not fixed back seats, which means your spine can be crushed when the seat folds, and there's no place to run sub belt(s). No, cutting holes in the seat isn't the correct answer.

If you've got fixed-back race seats with proper holes for the sub belts, then install away. Otherwise, please rethink.

You need proper seats to run 5 or 6 point harnesses, ie. a seat with a fixed back and a hole in the bottom for the subbelts.

yes you need proper seat, but what ambystom01 and weneversleep failed to mention and that mlomker did is you need a cage... if you don't have even a basic hoop cage you can't run a 5-6 point harness.
you will need to get a Scrothe 4 point so your can "submarine" and move out of the way if your roof folds in. lets try to stay un-paralyzed shall we

I thought that having a cage, or at least a very well-designed-and-installed four-point bar, was obvious in this context. Maybe I shouldn't have assumed.

No, you shouldn't. Many people don't realize how dangerous it is to run harnesses on a car without a cage or to drive in a car with a cage on the street (without a helmet).
