Like everyone said its because of the stock tune. Once theyre both tuned they should be very similar as not all cars are exactly the same.

I don't think this is the case, my 2010 didn't sound any louder stock for stock than my 2008 and if they did it would require a muffler redesign which isn't worth it financially for Mitsu. The 2010 run considerably leaner with lean spool and a better tune than the 2008. I was high 11 AFR's with bolt ons pre tune like 11.8's

I just wanna make sure I understand this correctly... what exactly do you ask for when you goto the dealership? I was told by one dealer that if they do a reflash that is not required according to the computer system... then they will charge me for it.

Also... if you do all the "required" reflashes for the 2008 model... will your car have the same engine tune as the 2010 model?

2010's: the money spent on the color LCD was saved on the plastic valve cover

Did they make the 2010 rattle less ? That might be worth upgrading in and of itself ;O

A tuned 2010 = a tuned 2008. There is no differences in hardware.
(Other than our awesome, kickass, color display)
You have a ****ty plastic valve cover though, ha!

My buddy (2010 X) he has magnaflow catback and aem intake, Me (2008 X) panel filter and invidia catback. We both got tuned by bryan@GST and we both made 298awhp/305wtq. So the answer is yes it's all on the stock tune, everything else is the same.

Rumor is, the 2010 is a little lighter (part of that being special carbon compound valve cover(which is actually stronger than steel but much lighter)), and has lean spool enabled in the stock tune, along with a slightly free'er flowing exhaust.

I know with just an intake I cut a 13.2 in the 1/4 on my 2010.

TBH I heard the 2008s after a tune make a little more power. Rumor is the actuator on the 2010's are looser, and cause a less ability to hold boost to redline.

^^ is just a rumor, but my friend, who we modded our cars together, bought all the same mods as me except he went with a 300 cel ETS Cat pipe where I have a TEST PIPE and he actually pulled a few more HP than me on a hotter day. so he pulled 315 WHP w/ a cat, and I pulled 309 WHP w/ a TEST PIPE and this was at CBRD.
