Engine Bay Powder Coating
Okay, so I have the ground work in place and I need some input, I have a GG '08 GSR and sporting some Advan RZ dark gunmetal wheels. I hate polished aluminum, every time you look at it funny it scratches. And trying to fix scratches it isn't uncommon to scratch it in the process.
So I am trying to decide on the following:
1. Powder Chrome
2. Powder Black Chrome
3. Powder Dark Gunmetal Metallic
I will be coating the following items with said color...front strut bar, valve cover, and AMS intake piping. I currently have candy red Nisei UICP and candy red front strut bar end links. The front strut bar and intake piping are both polished aluminum...I will snap a picture and post it in the morning, to dark outside ATM.
Here are some photos of chrome, black chrome, and dark gunmetal coatings...Sorry for the crappy photos, this is all I could find that matches what I have in mind.
Thanks a ton! I am headed to the powder coater in the morning.

In that case, I vote black chrome. Dark gunmetal will be too much gray everywhere I think. Black chrome will give it enough of a shine to stand out, but not be as overkill as straight chrome in the shine department.

That is what I was thinking as well. I want people to go, "WOW, nice!" when I open the hood not, "Holy ****!".

I have decided on Dark Gunmetal, thanks all. I am going to have to wait for my wheels to come in to color match though. The DGM on Advan's are just to hard to nail down with print outs.

Damnit, I thought I commited to the dark gunmetal. Everyone that sees my car in person keeps saying candy red... Here is what my bay looks like at the moment...

So far Kracka, Dyezak, and a few others have said to paint the valve cover and intake pipe the same as the red Nisei UICP...keeping it polished aluminum isn't an option, I hate polishing that ****.
