prosport boost gauge problem

i hooked up my AEM wideband and prosport electronic boost gauge yesterday(premium warning series or whatever) and everything worked perfect during my couple of drives last night as well as my drive to work today and also out once or twice during work. then today when i go to leave work it was working ok until all of a sudden the boost pressure shown on the gauge peaked and it lit up red and beeped when i was barely boosting and then it did it again and then just pinned boost at full pressure even when the car was idling. after about 10 seconds it went back to normal and then pinned itself again and this time didnt stop until i unplugged it. so what would cause these false readings and pinned boost pressure? also if the gauge stopped being at full boost and goes to vacuum it doesnt even read normal vacuum(20-ish) like it was and only drops down as far as ten then slowly creeps up, as soon as you give it some gas it just pins the needle again.

btw, i ran the wires through the fender as suggested. the power wire is hooked up with an add a circuit fuse tap at the ciggarette lighter(along with my wideband and valentine 1). and then im running the constant power wire to the another add a circuit fuse tap at the slot just above that for the hazards.

It probably broke because anything prosport is horrible, I will never purchase any of their gauges again. I had them in my rsx and decided to go with defi white racer for my evo. They work much better and the boost gauge is a lot more accurate as proven on the dyno.

I had prosport oil pressure, boost, and some other one i cant remember. boost gauge stopped working right after 2 or 3 months. the other 2 worked fine for another month i had them but i replaced with autometer and over a year with no problem. basically you get what you pay for.

i called prosport and they said it sounds like i may have gotten the sender wet. which may be possible since i did wash the car yesterday but idk how it could have gotten anything on it?!

Yea you must of shorted it out with the wash. When I washed my engine bay out thinking all the lines were water tight, I got the same reaction with my old prosport boost gauge. It would pin itself randomly and even redo the start up sequence. I threw that **** away. AEM boost FTW.

ive never heard problems like this until this thread. i still love the way it looks and functions normally. i heard defi was crap and more common to be innaccurate.

ill let everyone know, if your interested, how it turns out with the new sender. and if thats the case ill relocate the sender elsewhere

Yeah the guy who said Prosport is proven on the dyno...I've heard conflicting views back and forth between Defi vs. Prosport and accuracy claims.

I have Prosport gauges and they work great. No issues with the nearly stock car that I've got. Fraction of the cost, quality is great.

And about 75% of people have the gauges just for show. Unless you're logging which if you're serious about logging and tuning you're not going to read off of a gauge. You'll have spent good money on a legit tuning/logging system

i have the electirc prosport boost gauge also with no problems. i've had this gauge for about 3 years now and i had this same on in my supra with no problems. you probably got the sender wet like they said, when i take my car to the car was and spray it myself and sometimes water does get to the sender unit and the gauge will hit the peak/warning with little boost or no boost at all sometimes. give it a day or so it should dry out and you'll be fine. prosport gauges are pretty good for the price, but im only speaking with my experience with the boost gauge.

another guy with an evo x in town has the defi boost gauge and he said it is off by 2psi, im not saying defi sucks or isnt good, im just saying prosport is worth the money.
