Think the owner's manual says you should check fluid levels and tire pressure every time you fill the gas tank.

Not sure, but I'm guessing it doesn't if the oil level is low, but still within the maximum and minimum range. The check engine light will probably come on when your oil is really low and other things start breaking, lol.
So you mean like every 3 days? lol

I used to burn 1/4 qrt in my WRXs and MS3 every 2500-3000 miles and it got me paranoid to check the oil with almost every gas fill up. I friend of mine has an 08 STI with 12k miles that drinks at least an entire qrt every 2-3k miles and he thinks that's normal. I think he's going to assplode the piston rings in the near future. With my X I feel almost silly checking it that often.

i'm pretty sure turbocharged vehicles will burn more oil than traditional N/A vehicles due to the fact they have a turbine spinning at hundreds of thousands of RPMS that needs to be lubed

Just use normal Synthetic like Mobil one and change it often. It's easy to do and your engine will like you better.

I was easy on it for the first 1000 km's then drove it hard. Changed the oil first time at 2000 km's with Mobil 1 factory fill and every 4500 km's after with 5W30 Mobil 1.

The quality of oil these days, especially full synthetic, is much better than days of old. You can easily go 4-5k between changes. 2000 is kind of excessive unless extreme driving conditions.

I had a Honda that burned a quart every 3k since new. None of my Evos have ever burned any oil. To me, its not normal and worth getting your car checked out.

If mine does, it's such a small amount that i've never noticed. When I change my oil, I usually have the old oil quarts and I always can fill them all right back up to put in the recycled oil bin at the dump.

Every Honda I've owned in the past burned oil. Hondas cbr does the same and the dealership says it's normal. As far as I'm concerned thats not normal. Never had that issue with German cars and I haven't to date with the X.

I owned a 94 Civic Si and 94 delsol VTEC (B16A) and they both burned oil. Not lots but you would have to add a liter between oil changes. Seems to be pretty standard with any VTEC engine.
