Suggestions on TBE please! =]

Hi everyone! I need some suggestion from you pros ;d on some options regarding my TBE. I currently have a MXP catback exhaust on the car, I love the way it sounds (not too loud) but I was thinking of getting downpipe cat and a midpipe tp complete my TBE. Any suggestions???

well if you have a CATBACK exhaust then you already have a mid pipe

if you like it not too loud....you certainly don't want to replace your cat with a test pipe

ams's bellmouth is the cream of the crop as far as an o2/dp

will just adding the ams bellmouth dp give him TBE and enable him to run stage 2 maps though?

If he decides to keep running a stock cat then it will not be a TBE. Of course he could put in a HFC instead of a test pipe if worried about emissions or the extra noise.

I'm happy with the Ultimate Racing setup, O2/DP and HFC. No issues, nice performance gain.

I expect any HFC will be louder than the stock CC; be prepared for a louder drone at highway speeds with the stereo off. If you have the RF system, no worries, turn up the volume knob.

Of course, no one here is telling you what FUN removing the old stuff is Cruel community! It's a challenge, can be done in one day w/ one person, but I recommend a helper with re-installing a PITA heat shield on the passenger side down low protecting the front R axle area. Totally blind putting the little sucker back on, but I feel better having all the heat shields back where they were.

Untuned, possibly. The codes you may get aren't that severe in general:
1) ASC SES ("squiggly track" icon) - too much torque. Darn the luck
2) MAF overboost - It is what it says!
3) System too lean - that's the only potential serious one. I've only had it throw that code tho when I'm actually babying it on hot days, after a second engine start (stop, go in somewhere, restart it, drive it easily). That code has never shown up with RPM's over 3500.

The folks at your local auto parts store should get to know your name so you can go in and borrow the OBDII reader from them without you having to leave a CC. Once you start doing the code management yourself, you'll never want to take to the dealer again.

AMS 02 for even the Rexspeed. If it's too loud maybe go for an UR mufler midpipe and/or testpipe.

You may also want to consider a 200 cel HFC. I think someone sells them on the socal forum.

Well if you want to go with one of the most expensive (but very well made) exhausts, go with an AMS. If you want to go with one that is just as durable, is hardly louder than OE, and for I believe a bit under 600.00 for an entire TBE then get a Turbo XS... I have it and couldn't be happier. There isn't much difference between all of them and any non biased person will tell you the same thing. The widemouth will yield you a bit more power, but more if you actually upgrade the turbo than if you don't want to go with many mods total.

Megan is another exhaust that is excellent for the price.. a bit more expensive than the Turbo XS, but if you only need the downpipe to the catback, you aren't looking at as much.... but save yourself 200.00 or more dollars and buy yourself an UICP, then you have another 15-20 hp for the same amount of money.

Remember than your exhaust isn't loud now, BUT take off some of the restriction and you may find it a little more loud than you wanted, so maybe you could ask someone who has your brand as a TBE and get some info on it.

If you are a fanboy and strictly stuck on name then performance really isn't as important to you... but everyone has their own thing.
