Shift knob question....

Ok guys I have a question. I have a short shifter and the under bushing kit so I have a nice short throw. I am happy with the feel of it BUT. I have a major shoulder surgery coming up and I will be able to pretty much zero pressure on it. I know that some shift knobs are weighted and weighted enough to make the throw much easier on you. Which knob would you all recommend?

I have the Blox heavier one of the two.

It makes shifting more precise once in motion, but initial force required is slightly worse.

I would recommend shifting left handed. I do so during drag racing, since my right hand is not fast enough, due to a long term injury. Give it a try.

you might just want to rent an automatic car or something for the first week or two...

I may just use my mothers Altima... I will have my right arm tied to my side for about a month. They have to take bone from my hip and such too, so I might not want to even be in a car for at least a week or 2 anyway.

sounds like you fractured your clavicle. Thats a bummer, i had the same surgery done on mine. Anyway, you're not going to want to drive a stick for a little while (i'd say for about a week or two), or at least until you can rotate your arm out so you can grab the stick. Then you could just shift with your fingers and the flick of your wrist, especialy since you have a short throw. As far as weighted knobs go, I think the TWM A6 leopard shift knob is great. It weighs a little over a pound.

I would also try not to drive at all for the first week or so, you don't want to mess with a shoulder fresh from surgery! The A6 Leopard shift knob would be a great choice indeed, but if you want a real heavy weight you can look at these two:

Big Type R

Desert Eagle

Hope you have a successful surgery!
