Are they? Well, there goes my back-up plan. I didn't sign the papers yet, I put some $ down to hold it. I'm going to call the salesman today and tell him I think the manager was b.s.ing, and see what happens.

It's a 2010 MR Touring with 8K mi for $36K with wing installed. The car is in new condition except for some scratches on the rims. Must've been a parallel parker.

If the dealer tells you he will give you the wing for "free" that means there is still room in the deal and your not getting the best possible price for the car. the dealer still has to pay the parts dept for the wing, then pay service to install it. that money comes out of the profit margin in the deal, if you were truly getting a good deal they wouldnt be able to "throw in" the wing. i always laugh when ppl tell me they got a good deal on their car cus the dealer through somthing in for extra for free. id rather have a cheaper sale price then some overpriced accesorys from the dealer anyday IMO

nothing in this world is free, espically at a dealership. trust me ive worked at one for 6 years now.

I understand that, but I don't really like the look of the car without the wing. So even with a lowered price without the accessory I probably wouldn't buy. So, I don't think I negotiated the best deal in the world, but I think it's a fair one. But I think the manager was lying and I'm going to see what the salesman says when I call today.

just for reference if you look on mitsubishiparts.net the low wings costs like $200-300 (I'm going off of memory) and the tall wing actually does cost a lot: $1900-2000. he was gouging you for both though.

and yes you need to drill (I believe) one extra hole on either side of the decklid to install it.

btw where in PA are you?

The mounting points are all there you just have to drill them out for the outer post points and one of the holes does line up. The wing will cover the exposed hole from the smaller wing. For the third screw you have to put in use one way screws so they don't pull out since there's no way to fasten a nut onto the bottom without cutting into the underside of the trunk. Did this on my RA and didn't have a problem at all. Good luck on your deal and enjoy the car.

and if you use the OEM gaskets (they're double sided adhesive) that thing isn't going anywhere anyway.

(look at me commenting like i have done this.....to my credit i pulled the low gsr wing off and took a look.)

Don't even need the OEM gaskets. I just went to autozone and got the double sided tape that they use to hold on exterior trim and cut up some pieces accordingly. Its the exact same stuff the gasket is made out of and cheaper too.

for those that dont know. The GSR tall wing is roughly worth 1500$...unpainted. Mine had to be ordered from japan, then painted, then installed. 3000$ is insane, more like a 1800$ part max.

Tell him throw in the tall wing (because the small gsr wing looks absolutely rediculous i had it on my GTS, was hideous.

I would report it to Mitsubishi head quarters, because that's just pure extortion.

I would skip the tall wing and ask for a lower price. If you still want the wing, Im sure somebody who has a tall wing would be more than happy to swap trunks. Or you could get a SSS wing 2nd hand and save big $$. But in the end, its up to you. GL

I agree, the price is way to high. With the rebate on the 2010's and the 2011's coming out your paying too much in my opinion. There's a lot of variables here, part of the country you're in, taxes, blah, blah, but generally seems too high.
