Tire Issue

So my left rear tire blew (hole in sidewall) I called up a tireshop and they told me I HAD to replace it with the same exact tire as my other three. Problem is,it cost $370 for a freaking OEM tire. Would running a different tire cause that much issues for me to be concerned?I really don't feel like spending 370 bucks for a OEM tire...sigh.

as long as you're running the same size (i assume it's just gonna be a new tire back on your old rim) it's fine. and you know....if it's all season, get another all season....if it's winter, get another winter, etc....but i'd call another shop...same size, same type, they should be able to put it on for you.

yeah I saw the yokohoma advan s4's (different tread) was thinking about those. The tire shop told me that if all 4 same tires didin't have the same tread it would hurt the transfer case. because of the AWD

If they do not have the same rolling diameter, you'll have issues (tread, per se, should not matter). Why don't you post up on the South For Sale that you're looking for an A13C with about xyz miles on it, and see if anyone has some takeoffs?

Like mentioned before the size or roll diameter had to be the same that is it. If you go to a tire shop, you pick the name, they will try to sell you all 4 and try to tell you anything till you do. I have friends that work in tire shops.

I would get the set robevo is selling you at that price, you will not find a deal like that again and shipping is not that much. FYI

Read about AWD, then come back to this thread, when you're ready to order 4 tires.

Sometimes stuff is expensive... But when you think how much consequences of stupidity cost... It's not that expensive anymore.

From what I've heard, to be safe, you should just get the same tire and even have them shave it down to match your other tires...........i honestly would not risk my AWD system

Refer to Toxin's post. You'd be nuts not to take up Rob on his offer.

Stock Evo X tire is 25.6" in diameter, sect. width is 9.9", and tread width is 8.8" and a rev per mile of 810.

The Advan S4 in 245/40/18's diameter is 25.8" with a sect. width of 9.7" and tread width of 8.7" with a rev per mile of 804.

So even though a tire says 245/40/18 its not exactly the same...and that's even coming from the same brand manufacture. Imagine the difference if it was another brand. Save yourself from trouble and either get 1 stocker or 4 of the same tire.
