i don't remember exactly the code i got, but it was the camshaft position sensor. the dealer ran a check on it and the sensor was fine. the oil control valve that sends oil to the solenoid was faulty. my SES light went out by itself the next day before I got to the dealer, I didn't clear it. so get it checked out even if the ses light goes out (or doesn't come back if you cleared it)

I'm still waiting for the part to come in, the dealer didn't have it in stock.

i started a thread on it, but nobody had any useless info, just telling me to stop b*tching about my ses light coming on at such low miles...

2010 RA Sportback

I got a P0017 code when the SES light went on about 2 weeks ago.
I have Chain Stretch issue at 9,000 miles, which the dealership fixed.
I now have 17,000 miles on the car.

It started stumbling in idle, and rpm, and the tranny was shifting really high RPM, then dropping really low.

Dealership has replaced the following:
crank/camshaft position sensor
Oil Control Valve
Timing Chain
Re-downloaded ECM & TCM program

Still throws a code right at start up.

They have had it almost 2 weeks. The dealership cannot diagnose the problem, and have no answer for me as of today.
It is still under warranty, that is why I took it to the dealer.

No upgrades, ever, not even a k&n.
Can any of the EVO & RA gurus here help me?

Could the Chain stretch be the reason why a exhaust cam sensor code is being displayed?

Update:
Got it back today.

Cause: Found Code P0017
Engine Oil Control Valve (Exhaust) - Replace
Sensor - Camshaft Position
Valve, Oil Feeder Control

Per TSB 11/13/2008 Tech Reprogrammed ECM. After Re-prrgram & Test drove, code P0017 reset. Replaced Exhaust Side Cam Sensor. After cam sensor, code reset.Inspected timing chain, found good. Replaced Exhaust Oil Control Valve & Re-programmed, Drove 85 miles, No Code found.

I hope that I am done with this issue. I am scared to do anything to the car, as I would have to strip it down everytime I take it to the dealer.

But, I hope these few posts anybody else having the same issue.

i got the code p0012 over the weekend and took it in to the dealer (still under warrantee) and they said the timing chain was loose from over revving. To quote "the timing chain is sensitive on the evo and should not be revved" and so because nothing was TECHNICALLY broken, i have to pay for the diagnostic process.... stealerships.......
