I'm in the same boat. I've seen lots of pics of Evos in the snow and doing fine. I think as long as it's not deep deep snow like a blizzard you should be fine.

If you beach it then all the wheels will spin. I did that in my Subaru once while trying to bust out of a driveway that was plowed in. A little tug by a passing van and it was free.

If you live an in area with bad plowing then you might manage to get it stuck.

My IX on Tein S.Techs went through Minnesota snow just fine. Just get some good snow/ice tires.

I have a set of HSD coilovers so I just raised about 0.5" - 1" with snow tires.

You should be fine. I plowed through snow that was higher than my car all last winter in my VERY low STi with no problems at all.
The Evo has been doing great so far this winter too in snow higher than the car, but it is not lowered.
Just look out for hard packed snow and don't go too fast on unplowed roads.

If you are thinking of having something like Swift sports or Eibach pro-kit, you should be just fine, but like everyone mentionned, snow tires are a must.

Good luck

Right now my car has at most a 1" wheel gap and I drove my car through a rare snowstorm to get to Wrightwood. The snow at times was 1' high unplowed. My car was literally plowing snow for the people behind me to the point where you cant see my intercooler anymore. This was all done on toyo proxes 4 all seasons.

I am using Dunlop winter sport 3D, they are great winter performance tires.

I also heard Falken Eurowinter are great
