Dang that sounds terrible. It sounds like the time I tried to push a car out of the garage and try to hop in before the door hit the wall.

Hope you got it taking care of quick. As a Medic that one didn't sound good "loss of feeling and hand size of a baseball." Give us an update on the hand.

How can your car start "sliding" if it's in your garage?

it turns out the whole door is kind of misaligned.. along with the bent corner. I can't smoothly open the driver side door.. I am going for an estimate friday.. Hopefully it won't cost too much.

I pull the e-brake in my sleep. Use it. Wow - glad you aren't more injured than you are. Definitely get your hand checked out.

Sucks man. That's the worst. Slow agonizing pain that you can do nothing about. Glad you're ok, and gald the Evo didn't slide out onto "main" street and get hit by an 18-wheeler...

glad I wasn't the only one wondering this... I think he meant rolling?

still... most garage floors are perfectly level. I don't "have" to put on the parking brake in my garage (I still do anyways) and my car will stay put... object at rest will stay at rest blah blah blah.

oh my god.. sorry about the confusion. I meant the car was rolling backwards >_<.
The gear was in neutral and I didn't have my handbrake up.

Yikes. I'd get the hand checked out, especially if you can't feel stuff. Hand > Evo door

This is a good (yet painful) lesson for those us who don't always use the e-brake. Once you get used to doing it every time, you don't even think about it.

It was a wrong move... terribly terribly wrong. My fingers were stuck in between the dry wall and my door, and I couldn't feel a thing. Then I tried my hardest to reach my handbrake and pulled it up. I tried to reach to ignition, and I pulled so hard that the knob came off. I had to yell like a baby to get my wife out and start the car for me. The most painful moment was engaging the clutch, put in first gear (by my wife) and smashed the gas.

I am thankful that only my fingers are slightly injured because of the soft dry wall, which has a huge hole on it with the shape of my fist. Also my arm was an inch away from the garage door frame, otherwise my arm is gone.
Wow, sounds painful! Always leave the car in gear, hand brake is not necessary in most situations. Maybe it's just me, but I would never put my car ahead of my own health. In fact, my car to me is just my road armor
