trade Ralliart for EVO X MR?

Got a call from my Mits dealer indicating the have 08 MR Premium with 16K, however requires a new trans due to shuddering in 1 to 2 gear and they take my RA and I can extend warranty for another 5 yrs 130K for $70 more a month.

Any thoughts, good deal or not?

If they install a new Transmission, I don't see why not. I have 43K on my 08MR and still going strong

Sounds like clutch packs failing.

Car was probably beaten to high hell and back.

If they install a brand new SST tranny under warranty I say go for it. Don't waste your money on any extended warranties if you plan to mod the car at all, you'll still get the factory 5/60 when you buy it (assuming warranty coverage is the same in Canada as it is here).

MR owner here..Do not buy ext warranty if you plan to touch the car period.

As for the car..even under warranty or whatever they will fix it as..I still would NOT do it sorry, if its had a tranny problem what else will come next? Ive beaten my MRT severely and it hasnt missed a beat yet..I assume its a lemon or was somehow beat on more then mine which i cant see.

The SST is much more durable than I initially feared. I have a few friends locally that beat the hell out of theirs and they're still going strong as new.

yeah... knock on wood mine makes it noises but I've come to learn that they are just normal. It functions good and shifts strong. It was modded at over 300hp/tq before I bought it and I am going to put it back to that next summer. Mine has over 35000 miles on it also. If they replace the trans I don't see why not. Just inspect it real close. Take a good look under the hood and under the car itself. check body panels for s/n to make sure it wasn't in any major accident cause to me I would rather buy a car with a new tranny rather than a new front end.

How much is the car and how much do you owe on the Ralliart? I know the payment of only slightly more but how much is the car? There are some other good deals out there. If the replace the tranny and the warrenty on the car is still good, buy it.

As long as they are replacing the warranty I don't see why it wouldn't be a bad buy. Even if it was previously modded the only concern I'd have with a used MR is the SST and if they're replacing that I wouldn't think twice as long as it was priced accordingly

Yep, this is what matters. Price on car and what is owed. 70 more per month doesn't say much, just a way for dealer to hide numbers. Anything sounds good monthly over 5-7 years.

Thanks for all the input. The car was never abused or modded. The first owner was here for school and went back to China. Only mishap was he put it in ditch (black ice) when he first got and tow truck made a mess of it pulling it out. (front bumper had to be replaced) and Dealership went through it all fixed all.

So what I'm gathering where don't bother with Diamond care Warranty? (the car has 1 yr bumper to bumper 42K and 2 years 80K powertrain left)
