In my experience, once it gets scratched, there is no buffing out and will need to get repainted. That said, I find it a little more durable than regular paint and clearcoat. In my opinion, just a black front bumper is going to look a little off. Just paint it back to stock!!! Locally, there are now dinoc 3M wrapping options. It costs more, but looks pretty sweet for matte colors.

I think it'd look weird if your car is white and you paint your bumper flat black, but hey, it's your car so do whatever you want.

All black bumper on a WW car? NOOOOOOOOO!

Just get it repainted in OEM color, clear bra the bumper and never let your careless dad drive it again. There's a reason you never see white cars with black bumpers. It doesn't look good.

Most flat/matte paints are now single stage colors but they do have UV protection as well as chalking and fading resistance. As long as you buy good quality paint and it's applied properly, you won't have any issues.

rather than just painting the bumper (which I think will look rice as hell) you could just wrap the whole car if you really want to change the color. little more $, lots more pretty

Isn't matte paint hard to keep clean?

Yep you will see fingerprints and dirt very easily. You can't use any strong cleaning agent as there is no protection by the clear coat.

BTW OP, why would you do something you think will look bad? Painting flat black is extremely difficult.

So cleaning a car with a combination of the two sounds like a nightmare.
