That has to make IX owners swallow their pride and hopefully show a little more respect for the new models. The heavy, soft EVO X SE thoroughly beats the lighter, 4G63 powered IX MR. As for Subaru's fastest STI ever the 2011 STI still isn't ready for prime time.

I am kinda surprised that the Evos are that far down on the list, I would have thought they would have been a little higher, but then again I guess since our cars are not so top speed oriented that probably hurt them a little.

The Mustang V6 did admirable as well. SmikeEvo should be proud.

I would have expected the Evo to do better though. Oh well.

Not sure how much stock you can put into any car's position on the list... The results are all over the place (look at the Porsche results - Cayman S turning the same time as a turbo?) or the Lexus IS F turning in the same lap time as an M3. There's a lot of information here, but I think there's too much noise to make meaningful conclusions throughout the list.

and now that I just read through last years thread on last years laps, there are alot of variables that could have played into the times.

They are using the full course. I guarantee a GT-R can NOT do 2:02 around the full course at VIR. Few open wheel cars can even do the full course in that time. There are 4 different layouts / courses there.

And yes, I completely agree about car magazines. They hardly do the research required on most the things they write.

BTW: The reason the #'s are all over the place, is because they have been put together over the last 5 years. These were not all done on the same day. So take all of these comparison numbers done on different days with the grain of salt.

^^ yeah I noticed that about the times being from the past 5 years, should have only put this years cars on the list, unless they were trying to show comparisons. but agreed those mags are pretty much garbage, and agreed that it would be very hard to near impossible to run that fast on the full course.

This is shows only, how much the evo gains just a little tune from factory, even when they make the car heavier...

As aforementioned, you cannot compare different years. Car & Driver themselves should know better. The M3 will easily best the IS-F. They just keep getting faster and faster every year.

As Robevo said, it's great to see what a better factory tune on the Evo can do. Not so much when comparing older years, but moreso to see how it whips up on the Subarus with less favorable power:weight.

Read the article rather than just looking at the numbers. They explain that Lexus revised the suspension and the 2011 IS F handles much sharper than previous editions.

the X times seem about right. I drove at VIR a few weeks ago on the full course in my X GSR. I had full boltons, but i was on all seasons and it was snowing. I was lapping a little faster than that, but not a whole lot more.
