I average 180 a tank with 1-2 mile trips city only driving. 220 with mixed city and highway, 250 once on the highway. I fill up when my light comes on, and generally end up using right at 12 gallons to fill up. My gsr has a few mods, but when the car was new my mileage was 15-16 city and 20-21 highway. It didn't seem too far off regarding fuel mileage; they must have been heavy on the gas.

Seems like people are getting fuel economy figures all across the board. Wonder what's causing the huge disparity (assuming driving habits aren't to blame.)

That sounds a little too quick for a stock EVO, but then again the SE model is supposed to almost as light as a GSR with the dual clutch. Didn't think it would make that big of a difference though.

Road and Track saw 4.6s to 60 and 13.2 in the 1/4 with a 2010 MR-T, and the SE is lighter. This is totally plausible.

On the other hand...

AutoGuide's fuel economy numbers are garbage. 80 MPH on cruise doesn't bring excellent fuel economy, but it's certainly not 15 MPG bad either. I would say Road and Track's number is a bit high.

I drove from Dallas to Los Angeles in the SE and averaged little over 22 mpg and averaged a little over 70 mph. Not bad imo, although sitting in the Recaros for nearly 24 hours made my as* numb.

Word. Drove to Mammoth Mountain from Los Angeles last weekend (345 miles) and got about 22 going there, and about 26 on the way back. Ave about 18mpg around town.

They didn't even mention that only 340 were made.

I bought my SE back in September and I have to agree with almost everything in the article.

After having driven the car for a few months now, I totally agree about the crap interior and lousy fuel economy (heck, my '98 M3 had a nicer interior with fewer rattles and it got better mileage). Even the little things, such as having to push the AUX button every time you get in the car, actually does get pretty tiring after a while. Not sure about his idle problem though, as mine idles perfectly around 800.

But I also agree with his assessment of the Evo's prowess on the track. I've only had mine to the track once (we've had snow here since November) and I realized I've got to raise my game to match the higher limits of this car. I especially like his quote "We walked away from our track session sweating, smiling, and amazed at just how good the Evo is when pushed to its limits, and how high those limits actually are." I can't wait to get back to the track this Spring!

Overall, it's a great value for such a high performance car, but it really isn't a very good daily driver with the cheap interior and harsh ride. But then again, that's not why we all bought this car, was it? :-)

PS - The author of the article has some great video podcasts of car reviews and other automotive hoonery.
