SE model review + performance numbers?

New review of the SE trim:

http://www.autoguide.com/manufacture...view-1490.html

Interesting performance numbers:

" It’s properly quick, able to hit 60 in 4.6 seconds on the way to a 13.2 second ¼ mile at 103 mph. "

That sounds a little too quick for a stock EVO, but then again the SE model is supposed to almost as light as a GSR with the dual clutch. Didn't think it would make that big of a difference though.

eh... I don't think it was overly harsh but pretty accurate with some of the complaints. I don't think most people buy an evo with road trip, mpg or world class interior quality in mind..... if they did, they would be making a mistake. The interior IS cheap, the mpg DOES suck (mine gets about 18 on avg) & most people would rather road trip in something soft, comfy & with cup holders for 9.

Most of us buy evos because we want big performance for a fraction of the cost. Then......... we put a little bit of money into our evos killing what ride comfort there was, drastically reduce mpg & rarely ever road trip the car (if ever). It all is worth it once we beat performance cars that have double the sticker price at the track.

it is what it is..... and it's a beautiful thing!

I don't agree on the fuel economy bit at all. Something was up with that car.

I think their "fast facts" box is wrong because I believe the SE has the same KB struts and shocks as the GSR and also come with solid front brake rotors.

SE comes with same bilstein struts and eibach springs like MR. Also has the same 2 pc rotors as the MR and the xenon headlights. But it has GSR interior and GSR wheels. My stock SE did 5.1 to 60. Light tune has that to 4.5. Measurements taken with vbox.

The time is about right when you consider what the SE did in the in the C&D lightning lap compared to the 08 EVO MR. The 2010+ tune really makes a difference.

There is a comment on why the car has to idle at 1500 rpm. That's news to me.

Dyno chart for a stock SE (~30 miles on the odometer):

Seems like they have a fairly strong tune from the factory.
