Planning on buying my first Evo soon this year!
All I can say is that owning an Evo is more of a responsibility that you're probably even going to assume, both concerning time and money. It's going to be more expensive, and if you're a budgeting nerd I'd probably suggest factoring in some repairs and services that you wouldn't even expect.
If you're going to mod it, that gets pricey as well. Didn't catch where you live, but it's a nightmare here in California with mods and the police.
TL;DR -> factor in more money and time than you expect, after the purchase.

I'm stationed in Kentucky, and my 350 isn't exactly a favorite among the cops around FT Knox, but i keep out of trouble.
As for finding an Evo in Kentucky, yeah its hard as hell. theres a dealer just south of FT Knox that carries one every now and then and they refuse to let anyone test drive it... which sucks for those of us that are motivated buyers. I'll be buying mine in TX and i still have to order mine :/

I've been talking to a dealer guy from Texas via PMs. Sounds very nice and legit. Hoping to get something cooking up pretty soon!
depending on where from TX its prob worth it. from Austin to FT Knox its about an 18 hour drive 900+ miles...
and i order my X in a month, so im pretty stoked. they told me 1.5-3 month wait. which is why im doing it soon, cuz i come home from Afghanaland for Leave in July, so it'll be there when i arrive

It as far as i can tell is all original. Un molested. The guy traded it in on a Dodge Journey. His family getting too big.

Hey! Good luck to you too my friend. I'll definitely be post happy when I get my Evo!
Not to be an A!@ but in my opinion I really don't think you are ready for a new Evo X. People that buy Evo's don't care about comfort and sound dampening. Its about performance per $$ (Fun Factor).
Secondly, if $$ wasn't an issue you wouldn't be asking about it.
Lastly you don't seem like a great negotiator

Money isn't an issue. I'm asking because... WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO STUPIDLY SPEND MONEY THEY DON'T HAVE TO? Would you go out and pay a couple extra grand on a car knowing that you can get it for a couple grand less? Basis of life.
Negotiator? I haven't negotiated anything. Where are you coming from with this?
I think you need to go back through and reread the thread as opposed to skimming over it lightly.
OP, don't worry what other people want you to buy. Haters gonna hate. As far as contacting dealers, I went on Edmunds and plugged in my zip code. It gave me a list of dealers in my area and allowed me to mass contact them. I told them that it was best to contact me by email and to not call. By doing email, you always make sure that you say what you want to say and not get backed into a corner or asked to "come to the dealership." Obviously you need to go to a dealer to test drive one, but look it at as the dealer's privilege for you to want to buy a car from them
Using that method, I ordered a 2011 GSR to my specs with little resistance at a price I'm comfortable with.
Logic fail. Here's a fact. Self made rich people get rich by pretending they are poor. Perhaps you were tongue in cheek with the money comment; I hope so.
Just because one has money doesn't mean one should waste it. It's the OP's prerogative to try and get the best deal for himself...the stealership is trying to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks for your logical response techmaster. I found a dealership that has them in stock about 400 miles from here. I'm going to talk to them and see how they do things. Other than that, a guy that works with a dealership in Texas has been talking with me and giving me good information to go about this. He's another option.
just a friendly heads up, if you are going to purchase from far away, contact that dealer. let them know you're a motivated buyer. they'll let you know if other people are looking at the same car. to secure it, put like a 1k deposit down just to reserve it till you get there. but they'll only reserve it for like 5 days. Now if you order your car, they can keep it at the dealership for awhile and nobody can touch it because you put a 10% deposit down.
