That's a good question. I would hope something like that wouldn't void your warranty. Hope it works out for you

So im not too worried about it because I do have the Cobb on the way but my next question is if before I bring the car into the dealership if all the paint marks dont match up will that alone void my warranty?
Kinda depends how big of jerks your dealership is.

They don't have any reason to deny your warranty for taking your car apart. You could have dropped a socket down there and had to take the engine bay apart to get to it?

But some dealerships deny warranty if you look at them funny.

I'm not completely sure how the marrying / unmarrying of a cobb works with a ecu that already has an aftermarket tune on it. I would consult a tuner before you plug that cobb in. (or ask on these boards).

It'd also be nice if you could get a factory tune for your car (08 tune). Otherwise it may look suspicious if you end up with a '10 or '11 tune on it.

if my advice on the Cobb AP is worth anything. i'd say if you absolutely want to do it right and be able to revert to stock (which i did at one point....not it would take a month to get it back to stock), you should see if someone will help you flash the stock rom in the ecu before marrying the AP.

if you don't care for that and believe your tune to not be that of mitsu, then just write right over the current tune with the AP and don't worry about backing up the current one since it's probably incompatible with your setup.

Wow.. I'm not sure what to say with regards to the warranty. It's really going to depend on the dealer. They may give you a hassle with the pink marks, but I'd be more concerned with them knowing that it's not the original stock map. Only the COBB saves the original map, everything else causes the ECU flash counter to go up. Since the original map is gone, no matter what you do, they may be able to tell the map is different. At which point, you will definitely loose the warranty.

I don't know if this is good advice, but something to kick around would be to simply take it to the mitsu dealer, and explain it. Show them your bill of sale, so they know you recently bought it. And ask if they can take a look, and flash the stock map back on.

That could go well if it's a decent dealer.. but could also screw your permanently for the warranty. The one good thing about it is you'd get a factory flash on your ECU prior to you marrying the COBB to it.

Since it's a 2008, how many months left on the bumper to bumper? Maybe it's not enough to really matter. And if you are going to modify it, then you'll lose your power train warranty too.

There is no flash counter, this was FUD spread without any merit. The only known way to verify if it's the original map or not is a checksum. A checksum is saved to the vin when sold in the US. Also the checksum is updated when puts a new map on.

That could go either way. Could start off with a decent relationship with the dealer, or it could backfire.

I would get a factory tune from a local tuner myself. At least try and look like you had no idea. Play dumb, it may help.

Thank you everyone for your help are your sure that the cobb doesnt come with the stock 08 map already programed in? Cause it sounds like to me that you guys are saying that when you re-flash it stores your current map...

Another thing today all of a sudden my "service engine soon" light just went off out of no where and hasnt come back on but its still somewhat choppy under full throttle ubove 5k rpm but under 50-75% throttle its just fine....also it idles kinda choppy too almost like its cammed wierd.

1st.. yes the AP only stores your current map. You can flash the stock map to it but if you take it into a dealer like that, the dealer can tell. You have to "unmarry" it before you take it in, with puts the original tune back on.

2nd.. maybe you do have the stock 08 tune. Lol. The 08 tune sucked horribly. But you could also have a tune that youre car doesn't like. And the light going off just shows it isn't that big of a deal. So don't sweat it a whole lot. I would just put the stage 1 tune on and run that.

Ok so I added the stage 1 map and the car runs great, the Cobb AP was definitely well worth the money not only does it pull smooth but the idle problem I had is also gone. Thank you everyone for your help this forums very helpful (I've always been used to Honda forums where people bash you if you ask anything....lol)

S'cause it's full of jealous people that want evos

Glad it's sorted. I still think you should go to a tuner to figure out what exactly was changed for that to happen. It's better to know in case it pops up then have it pop up at the wrong time.

UPDATE: the car had dw800's and a 255lph plus a custom turbo housing and cams with the stock tune back on. Whoever tried to hide what was done to the car is a ***.

Well, look at the bright side... At least you no longer have to spend money on cams, valves, springs, retainers, injectors, and a fuel pump.

Nvm...just saw previous post.

Hey, at least you got upgrades!

Take it to a tuner and let them fix the fuel trims and call it a day!
