From X MR to X GSR.
I did the same thing.
Purchased 2010 MR first, thinking I will get used to the paddle shifters and all, I didnt. And regretted that I didnt get GSR. Coming from an STi, sissy shifters were not for me. So, I traded it for 2011 GSR and couldnt be happier. I feel I am more connected to the car with manual vs auto.

Maybe it's a mental thing for you all not to get over the "auto" tranny but my MR is all I could of asked for. And as for it not being able to handle the power there are clutch pack upgrades which aren't cheap, but neither is an exedy twin. In the end it's all about what you like. Good luck and let us know how you like your 3rd Pedal again
Try and keep the debating between SST and 5-speed to a minimal.
For the record, I agree with Rob, there isn't a big reason to switch to a manual unless you're going after big power or absolutely hate the SST.

Only guys that plan on Biiig turbo mods are changing back. Go race a equal hp MR and it will crush you. And dont even think of doing a high speed run in a GSR 5th gear is a killer, car falls off a cliff. If you drive a MR in s-sport mode you will know why the tranny is a beast, if you have not then keep thinking the 5 speed is better. A 5 speed is shamful in a modern car, Corvettes and porcshe probably stopped using 5 speeds in the 80's
I used to drive a manual Eclipse. I got rid of it for an auto RX-8 because I thought it would be better in traffic. Three years later I traded in for a '10 GSR. Auto was nice in traffic...but it got really boring really quick. No regrets going back to a stick shift. I DD my car amd my commute is 26 miles round trip with some stop and go.
i have an 8 gsr, only way id get rid of it is to ease the DD and get the X MR, and so wifey could drive it too and i wouldnt have to worry bout a burnt clutch. lmk if your willing
How do you pony up all the money for an MR if a 3rd pedal was so important to you? Seems like an expensive mistake. If you don't plan on doing extreme modding and do a lot of highway driving you may find out later it wasn't worth it to take the money hit and the lesser interior.

The rule of thumb is you depreciate the most in the first 2-3 years of buying a new car. You're going to take a hit if you do it. Is it worth it? Keep in mind that Evo X manual transmissions are quite notchy in 2nd and 3rd gear.
i'd stick with the MR. Your going to get raped like everyone said. I will agree that I like the manual better than the SST though. Driving the wife's SE just doesn't have the same feel.
