Battery question
Battery question
Well I'm gettin ready to take my 1,721 mile evo out of hibernation. Only thing is she didn't do anything when I wanted to start her. Had to use the emergency key to even get in. It started with a jump but when I shut her off at the gas station 5 miles away I needed a jump.
My question is do I risk dropping it off at a dealer for multiple days just to get charged for a new battery And a bunch of mystery miles or just buy a battery from walmart? I don't really trust letting anyone being around her. I waited 45 minutes to get it inspected when she only had 590 miles on her. Got her back with 15 extra miles and one happy mechanic :/

The car didn't do anything because you need to disconnect the battery if your car will be in storage for a while. And I doubt that your car would be at the dealership for a few days just for a new battery. Call ahead and make sure they have it at the shop if you're going to go that route. Gooood luck.
i'm not sure if my evo is set up the same way because i haven't checked, but in my '09 lancer GTS when i had it, there was a jumper inside the fusebox underneath the hood that you're supposed to pull when storing your vehicle. it disconnects the main battery line from all the components that may cause parasitic battery drain (like the alarm, monitoring hardware, or anything else you might have). try to look for that and use it next time

Mitsubishi will replace the battery for free with an optima red top if they get their test to fail. I had all sorts of issues with cold starting, and they ended up replacing the battery at no charge.
Just remove the battery from the car and take it to a battery shop. Most battery shops like Batteries Plus, will charge your car battery for free. There's no need to take your car to the dealership or mechanic for just a simple battery issue.
