Buying a X SE graphite tomorrow

I have not seen the car in person, but just noticed it has Chrome side mirrors. The car is a graphite gray, can the dealer take this option off? Is it painted graphite under that crap?

Thanks,

As far as I know, the chrome package mirrors just stick onto the stock mirrors.
Unfortunately, they're probably 3M'd on there like a ****!

It's entirely possible that you may be able to get them off.
If not though, the colored part of the mirror is a completely separate part from the rest of the mirror.
I'm pretty sure that the painted cover is either held on by screws or just snapped into place. Regardless, if you just pop off the actual mirror (just gently pry it outward and it will pop off of the adjuster assembly), you should be able to access whatever it is that holds the cap on.
Worst case scenario, you buy a new set of colored mirror caps.

Nevertheless, you're getting a new SE!
Congrats!

Great! I have a feeling they are painted anyway! Can wait to get the car. Worked out 36300 out of the door! What you guys think of that?

Thanks

Congrats! Those chrome mirrors ARE absolutely awful. You should be able to "peel" the chrome piece off.
If not rexpeed makes nice cf covers for the mirrors. I have them on my graphite gray gsr. Regardless you're getting a sweet car, this is a minor detail!

haha, I have test driven that blue SE. The car already had over 300 miles on it when I drove it in December. The sales guy purposely put little gas in it so I couldn't drive far. I wonder where OP found another SE in MI.

To OP, I think you can get a SE for less than that. I've been offered as low as $31k OTD end of last year but I didn't have the $ to pull the trigger.

Seems a bit high, the 2010 have extra incentives from Mitsubishi to move them. I've heard 32-33K OTD being pretty common. There's one guy claiming 29 OTD.

Even at 36K though, it's a steal. Definitely a lot of car for the money.

you know a dealership is run by idiots when they option out their Evo's with crap like that

me and my manager spec out our inventory really carefully when we order them (I work as a Mitsu salesman). Mitsu is one of the few brands where they let dealership specifically order their inventory, so whatever is stuck on your lot that you have trouble selling is your own damn fault for ordering (like a fully loaded rotor glow Evo MR or something stupid)

I would give the dealership hell for ordering such stupid equipment, squeeze every last penny out of them, gl with the purchase!

The salesman told me the reason why it had the miles is because Car and Driver magazine did some "testing" with the car..

No love for rotor glow here ? It's the most unique color Mitsu has. I might have jumped on it if the SE was offered in it but I've never seen it in person.

I was actually disappointed that the SE was only offered in grey scale colors and blue. I grabbed blue!

Sure, I hope C&D paid them for the miles because they will have a hard time selling that baby as new. I asked the sales guy whether he'd consider selling that SE as used, he said "No." I was like haha, good luck convincing an Evo buyer to buy a brand new Evo with over 300 TEST DRIVE miles on it. IMHO, that'd be worse than buying a used car with 300 miles on it.

Wish more MI dealers carried Evos.

This involves at least two, if not more, full throttle 0-60 acceleration runs, full ABS-engagement brake tests and tire-howling skid pad tests. The car can handle that, of course, but if you want to marry a virgin, pass.
