2010 evo x mr mods and one run.

I've had my evo x mr for about 6 months, so I decided to get my bolt ons. I order an AMS full turbo back single exhaust and intake. Along with the aem tru boost and wideband. I installed everything but the down pipe, because I ran out of time and I was heading that same day to Orlando Speed World, where a friend was going to flash my ecu and help tune it with the new mods, all I got installed were the gauges and the test pipe and cat back portion of the exhaust, and the intake. Then off to the drag strip I went. I bought the spacer for the o2 housing and im happy to say no "service engine soon" light came out. Thanks goodness. I arrived at the drag strip, and to make a long story short, I only got to run once in the 4 hours I was there. The night was plagued with cars breaking down and crews taking a while to clean it up, and a motorcycle crash, which both participates were alive, thank god. Bare in mind, I've never launched the car and I've only seen videos and read about the launch capability of the MR and haven't tried it myself until this night.

I lined up had it in s-sport, traction off, held the brake down, stepped on the gas got it up to 5k and launched, it pulled great! Until I was in 2nd and saw the transmission over heating warning pop up and for a second I let go of the gas, and then said f--k it and went wot once again. The warning went away the car kept pulling, and I finished the run. To my surprise, my time was better than I expected it was going to be.

60' 1.852
1/8 8.354
mph 84.82
1/4 12.969
mph 106.36

If I hadn't let go of the gas in the middle of the run, I'd say it would've been about .3s faster and 2 mph more.

In the video it looks like I hit the breaks but I didn't, I'm guessing it was some kind of light reflection.

Over all I was happy with the mods and results, no tune and only one run, in 4 hours. If I would've had more runs I'm sure I would've seen more results. This was also at peak 24.3psi with holding at 22psi in the end.

I'll post up some updates with the downpipe and tune when I get it finished.

**update**

Current mods are: ams dp, test pipe, exhaust, and intake.

The night started bad I was running low 13's at 102mph. So we got to tuning with EvoScan. A/f's were very rich. In the 9 and 10,s. We made adjustments and at the end of the night best run was 12.6@107.88. I backed it up with another 12.6. Probably the best thing about this MR is that it is damn consistent.

I launched the car all night using the launch control. The best 60ft I could get was 1.9 the 12.6 runs both were 2.0 60ft times. I'm not convinced that the launch control is the best way to launch this car. Next time I run it, I'm going to launch it as soon as I see the rpms get close to 5k and see if I can lower my 60ft time to about 1.8. The first run in this thread that's how I launched and got the 1.8 so we'll see. Over all good night. Here,s a little video inside and outside.

Oh and no Transmission warning ever came on, and I made 12 passes all night.

With or without a passenger?

Yea, I still tend to want to reach for the shifter. I've had clutch cars for 12 years until this car. I've only had it for 6 months I'll get used to it eventually.

nice run. Dont you just love the sst. It looks so easy lol.

by the way, im not sure if you knew but some of the members on the forum put their minds together and finally broke the first gear limit on our cars. Im sure youd be able to cut down on your time and especially your 60ft. Nomore 1st gear delay. You can just be our guinea pig lol.

Yea would be interesting to see you get rid of the 1st gear limiter and see how the car does.

I can see how it currently bogs the car down every time you launch.

Nothing touched on the sst tranny. Just the mods and adjusting the a/f settings.

Yea man, I'm really starting to like it more and more as I keep learning about it. Thanks for that link, I'm going to do some more adjustments and run out to the track again. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do. My friend went over some of the logs and we saw where the tps wasn't at 100%. I'll keep updating this thread as I run the car.
