Should I get a warranty?
So I have a question to ask, I just bought my Evo X MR "used" which had some after market stuff installed, anyways I've never had a vehicle that did not have a warranty with it, the bumper to bumper warranty has now passed and I am just curious if its worth to have the warranty on this car. I've never had an Evo so I am not really sure on many of the issues it might have and if the repairs people have are usually expensive. More than likely I will get the extended warranty, but I just thought I'd ask and see what people have to say. Any comments will be appreciated thanks. (and I'm also wondering who does or does not have the bumper to bumper warranty anymore.)
easy question....if you are going to leave it the way it is, then get the warranty if you dont know how to or dont want to do the work yourself. if you are going to mod it, then i wouldnt get the warranty. pretty much any mod you do they will try and void the warranty and it'll become a hassel.
mod - no
oem - no
Even if you don't mod the car, getting a dealership to honor any type of warranty on a car like that is a joke. The fine print is usually the "we pay the first $250, you pay the rest" bs anyway. I don't care if my block cracks, the warranty is never worth it on a performance car. They will find a way to not pay out.
If you are worried about it, just put $50 or $100 a month back in a savings account for emergency car repairs. Or take a tax refund and make it a permanent car fixer fund. Car warranties are just not worth the stress and bull**** you have to deal with.

I regret buying mine from the dealership when I bought mine. I can see it already, I have the simplest bolt-ons imaginable and I bet they will still give me a hard time and try to void my warranty if anything ever does go wrong. So essentially, I'm paying an extra 25 a month in payment for something I'll never use
I got an aftermarket warranty with my MR to cover the engine and trans only ((((only because I'm not paying to build that trans if needed)))). It clearly states in the booklet I got that if there are any "aftermarket" mods on the car they have the potential to void the warranty. Meaning "they will" so I'm keeping all my stock parts just in case and I'm not going too big. Probably just around 330hp/tq on my mr. If you get one just read the booklet they give you and the contract you sign if you sign one and I'm sure somehwere it will say if you mod it could void the warranty. Hope this info helps!

Remember, if they didn't make money off of warranties then they wouldn't sell them. That being said, if you are not going to mod your car to affect the warranty and you can get it for a great price then I say go for it. When I purchased my RA in 2009 it was relatively new, and classified conservatively as a "compact car". As such I was able to get an extended 7 year 100k mile complete coverage warranty for $1400. It provides good piece of mind as replacing a $10K transmission out of warranty would not be fun.
If you are worried that you could have purchased a lemon or that previous owner could have abused the car, buy the warranty, and after you feel confident there is nothing wrong with the car, get a refund for the remaining life of the warranty. Check out how their refunding works, if you decide to mod, you can likely just get a refund for the remaining life of the warranty.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses, for me I just want a few bolt-ons which the car has some already, and I know it already voids the warranty, but I know in some cases I've heard people say when the dealership tried to void their warranty that they had to prove that the aftermarket stuff was the problem but ya fighting a dealership to fix it could be like pulling teeth.
I found a good warranty through carchex that would be 7 years and 100k miles for 1800.00 and it covers everything except like the regular maintence, tires ect.... Has anyone ever used this company?

Also, have you checked online reviews of "carchex". How long have they been in business?
You will need to go all the way to Corporate to convince them that your bolt-ons didn't do anything. It's worse when they detect a tune. They sent an engineer to investigate my 2008 when I had a leaky rear main seal at 1000 miles. It was a six week fight, but it was covered. I had similar experiences with my VIII and IX as well.

I hear ya, I always take care of my cars, only thing about this one it is used and I knew coming into it that the previous owner might not have treated it as well as I would, so far it seems to be running fine so hopefully everything will stay well with it and have no major issues.
