Check with insurance. My insurance puts stuff like that under vandalism and it doesn't effect my deductible.

Out of all the car forums I visit, I see WAY more vandalism stories posted here than anywhere else.

I wouldn't call the cop unless you have a lead. They won't be able to do anything unless you caught the person in the act of keying your car. I would just claim it with your insurance and press on.

Not to be argumentative, but I would call the cops to report it. At the very least they have a report of it and the area. This can help because it's possible they have apprehended someone in the area vandalizing cars, or they may end up having a list of people with the same complaints and investigate. It can't hurt.

+1 on the camera idea. If they did it once they'll do it again. Drink a bunch of coffee and try to catch them in the act.

park the car at your families house and wait in the car.

LOLOLOL....better than my idea. SUPPLIES!! Have a bunch of homies hiding in the car....hehe. Only works if limo tint all around or else it would just be stupid and silly and waste of time.

But seriously, install a camera inside and outside your car hidden obviously. Do a stake out one night. Make sure when you drive to relatives place you drive around 4-5k rpms down the street before parking. Make sure whoever keyed it if he lives in the neighborhood hears the car go by. Park it. Lay and wait in relatives place. Get ready to make a call to cops and give chase to the bastard. Jk on the airsoft idea. No bueno to have an assault on your record when you report the vandalism to police. If you want to be more crafty, have a friend in another vehicle parked across the street doing surveillance. Also have a camera with zoom lens handy. So if the perp shows up by car, he can chase after or follow stealthily and report the incident to police with his plates, description of car and description of the perp. And follow the f***er home and now you have an address. Yeah, sorry went a little overboard. Only way to catch these f***ers.

Another observation i had. With the poo thing, i strongly believe its someone in the neighborhood who was walking his dog. I mean what random guy just picks up poo and smears it on car handles...seriously. He must be walking his dog, his dog took a ****...he saw your car and was extremely bored and thought it would be funny. I would advise you to go to relatives place on the same day and time you went last time. Maybe his dog walk is part of his daily routine. Just another thought.

Good luck!

sorry to hear that. I have a question about the insurance. I don't have the same but I was wondering if the incident caused your insurance payment to rise. Also how long it took the shop to finish the car (although not all shops are the same but having a good estimate is fine, especially since my evo is my DD :\ )
It's not a moving violation, it's vandalism so my premiums didn't change. My car was ready in a few days. I think it was in there about 4 days or so. I had another vehicle to drive so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear it happened to you. For what its worth, 3M scratch remover is pretty good stuff, may be able to get some of the small scratches not so noticeable without getting it repainted. It wont look new but will definitely not be so noticeable.

Some labs might actually be able to do DNA testing with poo, but really how far do you want to go?

You're basically looking for male, 16-25 years old possibly owning a dog or access to one (at least the poo). I don't think they used their bare hands for it so it's highly likely it's someone who walks their dog because they'd already have a doggy bag with them.

If they don't own a dog, wow they really pre-meditated that one, which means you pissed someone off whether you knew it or not.
