My evo x was keyed. Anyone have any input on what I can do? First time for me :/

I was visiting my relatives (who live about 1.5 miles away from my home). Had only stayed for about 2 hours and came back to see my right passenger door and my right back passenger door keyed about three times. Not only that but they also smeared dog poo on the handles.

It must have been some randoms walking around since we have known the neighbors since the family moved in (they aren't bad neighbors). Anyone have any input if the cops could do a thing about this? Or what I should do next time to avoid it? Or possibly catch the culprits? Replies much appreciated!

May their hands burn in hell. The police will not do anything about this unless something was stolen or someone was hurt. I'm sorry this happened to you man.

Any pics? How deep are the scratches? Could be someone who is visiting a neighbor and is jealous of your car? Sad to hear when someone messes with a car for no reason.

No pics for now. It's been a long day :\. Don't really know how deep the scratches are but I was able to fit my fingernail in it for some parts and I've let them grow for about a week and a half. Thanks for the input guys

park it at your relatives again another night. This time put a camera outside looking at the car and inside the car looking out. Keep an eye on it and catch the bastards. Have an airsoft on full auto ready to go. Have at it.

That sucks. The only thing the cops will do is probably a vandalism report. They'll ask you if you have anybody in mind that would do that but if it were just some haters out in the street being stupid, then there are no leads. Sorry to hear this happens. People are just so dumb sometimes when they do things like this. Some people can't respect others things and hard work they put into them.

If someone was keying my car, i don't think an airsoft would be enough justice.... I'd probably reach for the BB or pellet gun. At least those will break skin.

Just cleaned the poop from the handles. It had some white dog hair and I also remember one of the neighbors having two dogs (one of them with white fur). I can't really point it to them though. I was able to scrap up a piece of the poop into an Erlenmeyer flask (with a pair of forceps). Anyone know if I can get this tested? :\

(if you live in East Side San Jose, this is where it happened)

My evo got keyed a while back. It was pretty bad. The drivers side door, pass door, roof, and pass side rear fender. I have AAA insurance and when I called them up they took care of me quickly. The body shop bill came to 3500, my deductible plus the discount from the body shop came total out of pocket to $100. They pretty much had to paint most of the car to have it all blend. I got the discount because its the swame body shop we use at the dealer and they do awesome work! Im not a body guy but I couldnt event tell it was repainted.

The keying is one thing, but dog pooing the handles? That is just absurd.

@TommiM

sorry to hear that. I have a question about the insurance. I don't have the same but I was wondering if the incident caused your insurance payment to rise. Also how long it took the shop to finish the car (although not all shops are the same but having a good estimate is fine, especially since my evo is my DD :\ )

the camera filming is worth a try. insurance covers vandalism and the deductible is usually lower($100). if you catch him, just call the cops and at least you can file a claim and/or report.
