Dark Tinted Brake Lights

To all with tinted rear lights. I sat through a case yesterday where one guy rear ended an Evo X. Normally the driver who hits the car in front is at fault. However, the driver who rear ended the Evo X vehemently claimed that the Evo X brake lights could not be seen in the bright sunlight. The investigators went and retrieved the tail light pieces from the Evo X and checked it out. They tested them and made a video. Sadly, I have to agree in the bright sunlight conditions you could not see the brake lights. The result was the Evo X driver was charged with the accident. Ouch!!
Don’t over tint your brake lights!

Great advice! My wife almost rear ended a black Evo VIII on a club car cruise because his taillights were tinted insanely dark and you could not see the brake lights illuminate in the daylight. Tinting head and taillights is just dumb.

^^ yeah it is....get some RA tails and be done with it. Head lights why? Its bad enough some people can't even drive and then you make it worse by not letting them see you??

The real sad part is that the car that rear ended the Evo X had substantial injuries to the occupants (Head injury and broken leg). This is going to be a real expensive collision in terms of injury claims which will now be charged to the Evo X driver. In addition, the Evo X driver's insurance is considering not covering the Evo X driver as the car was "modified to an "unsafe level" and the insurance company does not provide coverage for such. Ouch!!!

Head light covers and tinting your brake lights is dumb. I like to see at night and people can't drive as it is. Why put yourself at risk because you think it looks cool.

I hate being behind someone with tinted tail lights.

for some it goes with the accents of their car, like for instance me. It doesn't look ricey if it's done well with gloss like i did.. But i did just order RA tails cause they look much better

I think that's a bit ridiculous the other driver didn't notice the evo slowing down? Maybe they were riding too close which should be considered their fault imo.. Nothing wrong with tinting them as long as it's still visible.
