Poor to no lumbar support, the headrest portion does not provide appropriate support for the neck, and if you have wide hips the bolters will be an issue for fatigue on long drives. That being said, if you have no back/neck issues and you like supportive seats for the twisties they will likely be fine for you.

I love the Recaros, I did a trip from NY to FL ((22 Plus hours in traffic)) and my brother and I were comfortable the whole way down and back. I'm 6'5" and my brother is barely over 5' ((he's 11 lol)).

The seats are great. Every one of my friends fight for shotgun whenever i bring the Evo out. The only person I can think of that doesn't like my seats is just my mother. But then again she just doesn't like my car in general -_-

I actually want to see if i can order the Suede/Leather seats from mitsu and have them installed and then sell my stock seats that are in the car right now, OR see if getting them wrapped in suede and leather is cheaper than buying the ones from the factory.

Na you can't compare these to the regular lancer seats, long term especially if you like to throw your girl around they will hold you like crazy and thats the fun aspect. I'm not sure how crazy the drivers get on these test drives but take a few tight turns and watch how thrilling the ride gets. My girl or anyone for that matter has never once complained about the comfort factor oh my dad did say that the seats "aren't for the big boys" but he's 360 lbs lol and my girl usually falls asleep too I just wish I had gotten leather.

I find the seats quite comfortable, I have driven my X back and fourth from South Carolina to Wisconsin straight through a few times (1100 miles ~ 15-17hrs) and never thought to myself these seats are uncomfortable or too stiff or to tight ect.. the only issue i ran into was that after 10 hours or so your right knee cramps up a bit becuase you cannot straighten it fully though that is not necessarily a function of the seat but rather sitting in a car for 10+ hours..

In short long term i think they are great, I have had many cars and thus far this is the most comforable, thought the wrx seats werent bad, they just didnt hold you the way these Recaros do.

As for the women, most that sit in them really like them but a few have told me they dont like them, (these women were shorter) hope that helps.

I think the material is a difference. When I wear a knitted Polo, I feel like I am out of position and it gets uncomfortable within 10min. But when i wear any like soccer jersey material, my back slides into place and locks me in well. Since you mentioned reupholsetering to leather, you may not have a problem here.

The fiancee doesnt mind the seats, just the getting in and out because of the hip pad. I have also noticed the hip pads seem to widen a little over time if you are wider (Im 6'2" 270lbs)...that or my body is conforming to the seats, which would be weird. good luck.

that's actually very good insight, thank you. didn't think of it that way. we order very few leather-equipped Evo's. We did order an MR Premium recently and was actually disappointed in the factory leather quality (felt almost fake). aftermarket probably won't have this problem, and I'll probably experience what you mentioned

and I just did the 4hr drive (one-way, so 8 total) from Houston to Irving for MOD2011. I didn't find the regular seats uncomfortable at all, and I actually shifted my weight around a lot to keep myself awake the last hour, which makes me think since I won't be able to do that in Recaro's. My co-driver fell asleep many times, but he didn't recline, so I guess Recaro's are still comfortable enough to sleep in, even if you have to sleep upright

thanks for the posts guys

I think they are more comfortable than the 8 or 9 recaros.

I think that they are great, love my seats, definately like them better then what was in my VIII. the only thing my wife complains about is when she first gets in and hitting/sitting the bolster(sp) with her leg when she gets in. Heck even my 75+yr old grandmother sat in them and thought the were pretty comfortable. not sure how a long trip with her in the seat would be but. they are very nice and would suggest them.

2010 GSR daily driver...I love the seats. I think they're incredibly comfortable. I prefer to sit upright. I am a slim person (5'9" 160 lbs). What I've noticed is that wider people (My uncle, mom and dad, friends) tend to be uncomfortable. Narrower people tend to be more comfortable. Reclining makes them very manageable as a daily driver, and I have several 6+ hr trips in mine, with a pregnant wife. However I've noticed 2 very important things.
1)The hip pads/bolsters will get worn out from getting in and out if you're not conscious of the fact that you're sliding over them. More so on the passenger side, because they're less aware of it. The fabric WILL look worn over time.
2)You will notice the LH side of the seat beginning to lean slightly more than the right hand side, from entering and exiting the vehicle if you are not aware of how you press on the seat. Try to pull yourself out of the seat, rather than push on the seat back to get out.

Keep these two things in mind, and the seats will look great, perform well, and be comfortable for a long time.

IMO Recaro is the BEST seats I've ever sat. Much better than the one in REGULAR familiy sedans. I drove my RA w/ Recaro for a 14-hrs trip and only had 10min break, still felt great!
Good luck and enjoy, Bro =)

The factory GSR recaros are more plush and comfortable compared to some aftermarket reclineable street seats like the Sparco Milano, Torino2, and Chrono Road.

Like the guy mentioned above, you need to be conscious getting in and out or you'll wear that side bolster out quick.

I always tell my passengers, valet, parking attendant to go in *** first. almost like being arrested this prevents the side bolster from being prematurely wore out. My 05 MR front seats are pristine.
Bottom line is tell everyone going in the front to go in *** FIRST

do you guys really get that many complaints/comments about getting into the Recaro's? I thought that was a cool trait of the car/seats themselves, instead of an annoyance

like "heh, my car is so silly you have to climb into the seats, sort of like a race car" - but I didn't want that to extend into "blegh, these seats also make it as uncomfortable as one too"

yeah I do, however its mainly from "non enthusiast" types who don't recognize why the seats are the way they are. Most of my friends who are in to cars think they're awesome.
