2 quick questions about X GSR high speed run

Hey everybody,

2 quick questions for you guys
So today I was doing a high speed run in my 2009 X GSR. At about 210km/h+ my hood starts shaking (rippling) obviously this is from the air passing under it at high speed, however, does this happen to every1 and is there a way to stop it? Kinda got me worried that it was going to fly open!

Secondly, do u guys have to do something to initiate launch control? I was told that u had to turn traction control off then put it in first with clutch in an floor it but my car is always limited to 5500rpm or was that because I was in neutral?

Thanks guys an gals

I can't speak to any of your issues, what is 210 kph in mph? Remember us Americans suck at conversions lol.

I BELIEVE that 5500 is what launch control is set at, can't tell you anything more since I have the SST and the way to turn it on is different.

Do you have an aftermarket hood? Hood pins will help.

210km=130mph. i once ran 140mph and my car seemed smooothhh. nothing shaking, it just lowered itself to the ground and cruised. maybe check to see if everything is tightened where your hood connects to the car?

2nd.. when your at a complete stop, put the car in first with clutch in, floor it, rpms should be at 5500, then dump
*This WILL impact your rear diff in a very bad way*
but its such an awesome feeling when the car launches!

Have you altered any of the plastic panels around the engine and/or behind the bumper? Do you have the stock, plastic undertray?

Don't do this. That is the bad way to launch will destroy your diff. You should never "dump" your clutch.. You need to learn to launch properly.

the rev limiter is the launch control, I don't have an X but I've driven one up to 155 and nothing was shaking

Would definitely get checked on your hood. Did 130 mph when I was stock and didn't have any issues.

Your 2 step should be at 5500 rpm unless your Tuner has changed it.

Thanks for the replies I was sure the hood wasn't like that before but only noticed it today. Will take it to get checked as soon as. Yes whole car is stock

As for the launch control I figured it was that, just thought that there was a procedure before it was active not that it was just ready to launch all the time. Thanks again everybody.
