Clutch is already gone...
I have over 20K on mine and I've been modded for over 19k of it... my clutch is still just fine. This just doesnt sound right, either there was something wrong with it, you cant drive stick, or you beat the **** out of it got it hot as hell and then continue to beat it while it was hot and toasted it. That's when the most damage is done to your clutch, when you get it hot and continue to abuse it.
mine "blew up" at 998 miles, it was gunna cost me 4k at the dealership, but when they pulled it out it turned out to be a faulty clutch and the warranty covered it, maybe it the same thing with you?
if car is stock, it should be covered under warranty: INSIST that it does.
if car is modified, you're boned buddy.
fwiw, my stocker made it ~41k miles, 20k of which were @ 350 hp/tq.

To the OP'er, that really sucks man. Could be a faulty clutch or it could be your driving style. I would try to get it warrantied and if you absolutely won't, take it elsewhere. Let me know if you need any help with clutches.

^ agreed. I just rolled over 50k on my stock clutch and its still going strong. Have turbo back 3" and ams intake and tune by cobb 332whp/320ftlbs and I push my car fairly regularly. Either you're riding the clutch unknowingly or its faulty.

Its not mitsu's job to cover clutches, its not part of the warranty.
You could have them rip it out and if its a defect then get it warrantied but that is risky and very expensive if it wasn't a defect.
My guess, you toasted it on your launch as you didn't know what you were doing, we've all been there.
Time to man up and just get a reputable shop to replace it with a nice aftermarket one and say goodbye to your power train warranty (not that its that great anyway).
I find it best just to mod what you want and don't expect **** to be fixed under warranty except recalls and electronics/interior stuff.

Also, if this is the first manual car you've ever driven then it's possible you're putting more wear & tear on the clutch from learning how to drive a stick. I'm not saying this is the case for you, but often times the clutch wears out fast because you're playing with the clutch pedal too much or you're riding the clutch. Also rocking your car back and forth a lot at stop lights/signs puts wear on your clutch too. Leave the car in neutral and hold down the brake.
I have 18k on my stock clutch, and going strong. Only a drop in and Cobb AP for mods. I dont normally abuse my car, but have done a few stupid things over the last 2 yrs.
Its pretty tough to kill the clutch in only 2k miles. So unless you were doing really stupid ****, there was probably some mfg defect contributing to its demise.
Knowing how poorly the Mitsu dealers treat us Evo owners, i would not even bother to take it to the dealer. They are not likely to cover and the aggravation is not worth it IMHO. For the 1200 that Mitsu will charge you to "look at" the car, it will cost you about the same to drop in the Exedy single.

I say you just really suck at driving stick or its a defect. On the 2011's did they fix the occasional leaking main seal? There were a few guys that clutch went out in like 3k miles due to them but I think they were all '08s.
