Evo 10 - AWC Service light keeps coming on?

Hello all

Every so often this light keeps flashing up in my 2008 Evo 10. I dont have an owners manual, but exactly does it mean?

Thanks.

I had that come up once in my 08, but once I took it in to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and that the message was gone. The only thing I remember about it was that I reversed hard and that message popped out.

Does your show up every time your turn on the car or occasionally?

My 2008 started doing this last winter. It could be a few things. There is a TSB for issues with the AYC pump breaking. There is also a reflash to fix this problem before the pump blows.

It shows up occasionally, about once or twice a week.

I can almost see a pattern of it popping up in the warmer weather. Cant be 100% certain as iv only had it 2 months.

Iv been reading around and it does point towards the AYC pump.

Iv had it diagnosed now and it comes back with code C161e.

I dont suppose you have a link to the TSB do you, or atleast what i say to the dealers when i take it in, as they're pretty good at denying stuff like this.

could be an SST deal, I've had two 2008 GSRs and never had that problem. Also, sometimes when you overboost, the ECU goes into limp mode and it will display errors related to AYC or AWC even though there is nothing wrong with it.

Do you have any mods?

No mods at all, just standard.

Well the couple of times its come on when im driving it is either normal driving or when iv been stationary in traffic.

Today after having the fault code cleared from the ECU it came on about 3 miles later when i was slowing down, nearly came to a standstill.

check out this thread:

it could be something as trivial as low fluid level (then again, if it's low it must be leaking), or you might be in for an expensive bill...

Good luck old chap...

Whilst i was at the garage the other day getting it diagnosed they checked the fluid level first. The fluid reservoir was full to the very top

Dont know why somebody would have done that.

Did this light flask up on the dash before you took it in or did they just do it as a precautionary???

I might take mine to the dealership and give them that TSB info, i hope its the same over here aswell.

Mine went on and it was because the awc fluid was low, check it out, it's in the trunk to your immediate right
