Upgrading the Evo X or selling it?

I am in the market for upgrading the Evo but before jumping in I had an hesitation as the bill of the upgrade is much more than I thought originaly.

If I sale it how much can I get for it.
it is a 2008 GSR with SSS option.
It has 10000 miles and had a set of after market wheel with 275 35 18

if I spend the 10K in upgrade how worth will it be ? the same less or more

Is it easy to sale an Evo X?

just a thought before doing it?

Thanks for your feeback

Almost any car that is modified will be worth less than if it weren't molested. An evo with 10k worth in modifications does not equal the price of the car plus the 10k, if that's what you're asking.

I agree. If you're thinking of selling it, get out while you can. An 08 with SSS package with 10k miles on the dash should still net you a pretty penny. Otherwise i say mod the fak out if it (tastefully of course) and enjoy the new ride... Or you can also join me and buy a daytona 675

not sure if an x sells like hot cakes nowadays, especially with the economy and the fact it's a 2-3 year old car. if you're looking for a quick sell, i doubt that would happen.

as for mods, listen to the others - the more you mod, the less your car is valued. conversely, parting it out back to stock and sell the parts will net you a lot more, even after factoring in stock parts if you need to buy/trade them.

i've seen quite a few people recently buying up the 2008 GSR's ranging from 22k-26k obviously depending on the condition of the car.

Mods will not boost the price of the car. You may be able to sell the car a little higher above market value to an enthusiast who appreciates what you've done to the car, but odds are in favor of that not happening. Generally, most car enthusiasts prefer to work on their car rather than having to deal with the headache of whats already been done to the car... should it need fixing that is.

If you're contimplating selling the car, it could be that your not satisfied or havent realized it yet. think long and hard before you pull the trigger on this decision.

Just get the basic bolt-ons (tbe, intake, maybe intercooler kit) and a good tune. You will love your car then. If you sold it what would u wanna get then. I only ask cause where im located I NEVER see any X's anywhere I think i have only seen 2 in the 6 months I have owned mine. Its so nice have a rare car like the X.

But in the end just do what makes you happy!

Thanks to all of you for your feed back and let me answer uyou before I will inform you about my decision.

-You all validated that a mods car is equal or less than a non modified car.

-I spent countless hour to see whats mods to do and what budget. For what I am looking it will be at least 10K and doing the work myself (tune not include)

The Evo X is awesome car and I will missed it. It should be even better with the suspension brakes and engine mods.

Now my decision: I will try to sale it for 27K (I did KBB and it say 29,5K excellent and 27.5K good) mine is not excellent as I have two scratches and one dent but it cost less than $2000 to fix them. The car has been kept in a garage 3 years and only spend few hours on the street.
Why I sale it because 26 + 10 make 37K and for an extra 10K a can have an ariel atom.
I don't know if any of you drive one but you can't compare.

Now I may not sale it for 27K and then I will have tosee how lowwill I drop the price or keep it a little longer without spending crazy dollars.

If some say why not let the vette go instead of the Evo. It is just a choice and the vette has the magic of a muscle V8, even if the Evo as a car is better engineered.

Not to be a jerk.. but dude that's so hard to read ><!

IMO - Mod the hell outta the evo, you'll love the feeling it gives you after its modded, night and day difference. 10k should be enough to turn it into a beast.

A.) You live in Denver so what will u drive during winter, you cant drive the vette (i mean u could but good luck)

B.) No clue what an ariel atom is. I just got done watching revenge of the nerds (lol never saw it but pretty good movie.) I find that to be pretty Ironic. For those of u who have never seen it the college the nerds go to is Adams college "home of the Atoms."

C.) I think your making a mistake by selling it. Everyone knows you will never get the money back that you put into the car. Thats something we have to live with when you have this kind of hobby. But the outcome and satisfaction you get after installing a new part or walking on a car that cost twice as much as yours is a GREAT felling. I think everyone can agree with that.

D.) The evo is so tuner friendly that no matter what company you go with for parts your gonna get awesome results and it only gets better with a tune.

You cannot buy a "real Ariel Atom" for 47k build one out and it's 65k period. It can go over 100k for a fast one

Last I checked the ariel atom is not street legal, so its in a league of its own.

+ 1 on modding it

Nevermind just checked out the ariel atom. Pretty crazy but very impractical. I like the idea of a civic type R motor w/ a supercharger but again another car that will have to be stored.

If you do get it tho we want videos!!!!

The vette is heavily modified and not streetable as it does not pass the emission.
it basically a race car. for every day I have a mazda mx5 with snow tires it is ok up to 5". after that school close and I take my wife chevy avalanche

it is basically an open wheel with two seat. I drove one once and it is a dream car.
whatever you do to an Evo even spending 50k you won't catch an open wheel.

It is a great car and if I had the money and the room I will keep it.

It used to be and that was I thought until I went to their website. It is $49k with a K20. when you add the wilwood 4 pistons, the fully adjustable bilstein coil over,
the roll bar. you at 55K.
but I will buy it without engine and it will only be somewhere around 45.
but again need to sale the Evo first.
